Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 25th July

KEVIN - JACK - ITV - CORONATION STREET

Jack is annoyed that Chesney is taking him to school; I suppose you would if you were 15 and still being walked to school. He is also upset that Kev is missing his end of year presentation and finally because his dad is more interested in Abi and Alfie than him. Kev wants to put together a cot and paint the nursery yellow by this evening - I don't think a 4 month old will know what colour a room is, to be honest. Things get worse for Jack as a half pint bully starts calling him 'spanner', based on the fact that his "two dads" are both mechanics. I'm pretty sure Jack could get him in a headlock, what with being 5 inches taller.

Summer is also miffed - Aaron and Jay-kub, who are now BFFs, are going off to work leaving her to sit alone in the cafe all day. Where are her girl friends? Jacob, who is apparently doing the hiring and firing at the factory now says that Carla is looking for a PA and by the end of the ep, Summer has a new job. I guess £6.83 an hour (min. wage for an 18 year old min. wage) is quite attractive to Carla.

AUDREY - HOSPITAL - ITV - CORONATION STREET

Becky, the psychiatry liaison officer, turns up at Kate Oates Memorial to see Audrey. I think Audrey would probably be waiting 3 months for a psych consult, but anyway, she gently persuades Audrey to tell the truth about the sleeping pills. This story has gone from comedy to tragedy pretty quickly.

Stephen is back and his car is playing up. He persuades Tyrone to take on fixing his car as he can't go to business meetings by tram. There are these things called car hire firms, Stephen? Maybe they don't have them in Milan/Canada.

BRIDGET - ITV - CORONATION STREET

Yasmeen has gone full internet detective and has tracked down Stu's daughter, Bridget. This goes as well as you might expect with Stu stomping off until Kelly persuades him it's a good thing. I'm not so sure - Stu is a boring character and adding family members is just bedding him into the show. Anyway, he turns to his daughter's house, but Bridget refuses to speak to him whilst he pleads that he never "hurt that girl". Stu later lies to Yas and says that the woman wasn't his daughter. In the meantime, Yas has gone on an aborted date with Stephen, realising that she likes Stu better, despite his many faults, one of them being (I'm guessing) the suspect in a murder case.

HOPE - FIZ - TYRONE - ITV - CORONATION STREET

Phil(l) has brought a school leaving present for Hope. This is Hope who smashed up his car, right? He also has a pressie for Fiz - the signed annulment. She returns his ring and he quotes Walt Whitman at her ("The body, sluggish, aged, cold—the embers left from earlier fires, The light in the eye grown dim, shall duly flame again"). Poor Phil(l), I'm glad that a) the actor has been allowed to showcase more of his talents and b) Phill has been allowed to leave with dignity.

No sign of any abatement in the Dobbs-Stape storylines as the next thing seems to be Hope being groomed by a 'Mad Dog' on an internet game. If he kidnaps her, can he be persuaded to keep her?

To answer your question about why Summer has no girlfriends,Amy and Asha refused to have anything to do with her after Summer initially let Aadi take the fall for her cheating on an exam.
It wasn't so long ago that Jack seemed happy about Abi and Alfie moving in,so why the change of heart?
I also wonder how did Jack's schoolmates find out about Tyrone being his father briefly,Hope?

Jack did more than a headlock, hence Kevin having to go around the school.

Excellent review. Its getting a joke now that every man and his dog seems to work at underworld and get hired instantly, so un-realistic. Mike baldwin ran a more efficient ship

Ruby told Jack's schoolmate, it was said in the episode.

Jack changed his mind when he realised how distracted Kevin were, due to Abi's impending arrival. Jack felt like an afterthought after several broken agreement with Kevin because of Abi.

It did make me smile that Kevin is being very Kevin and raging at Jack for losing his temper! Pot & kettle, Kev.
And if they’re that busy, let Stephen go somewhere else!

Anonymous[9;37]I wonder how did Ruby know that Jack was almost her brother?
I think her mother Kirsty knew but she was in prison when Ruby was a baby.
Very contrived storyline.

Jack actually told Ruby himself. After a minor alteraction with Evelyn and told Ruby, “I had a lucky escape, she was my almost nan” or something to that effect.

Jack told Ruby that her grandma was almost his grandma...he pounded the kid who called him spanner....very unrealistic behaviour all round.
Stephen is a numpty
Fiz and Tyrone are terrible parents and worst partners..it'll be interesting to see how they incorporate Alina's love child when she returns..
Summer......yawn

Wouldn't mind seeing more of Aadi and Kelly

That so called factory is a complete joke. Why on earth would Carla hire Summer who has no qualifications and clearly mental health issues.
I am very disappointed that Tyronne and Fizz are back together.
