My thoughts on Coronation Street's new 6th episode
Earlier this week it was announced that Coronation Street will go to six episodes a week starting on Wednesday 20th September. You can read the official announcement here.
I have no doubt that the extra episode - and indeed all of that week - will be packed full of drama. In addition, Coronation Street have promised us that the double wedding of Eva/Aidan and Johnny/Jenny that week will be stunt-filled, the likes of which we've never seen before.
And, once we get used to having the double episode in the middle of the week, it'll be as if it's always been there, and we'll settle down into our telly watching routine. Emmerdale have done six episodes a week for some time now and look at all the awards they've won - and continue to win! They swept the board for the soaps this week at the TV Choice Awards.
Six episodes a week will give Coronation Street the chance to include more drama, more danger, more gossip, more characters, a bigger set, bigger ear-rings, bigger hair ... the list goes on. There'll be more Coronation Street to enjoy, more blog posts to write, more fan interaction to enjoy. Bring it on!
But...
There's a tiny, weeny piece of my heart that was hoping and wishing for the extra episode to be shown on a Sunday night. There's something special about a Sunday night Corrie, a time to curl up on the sofa with a cup of tea and a biscuit before the week begins again. A Sunday night Corrie always took the sting out of going back to school or work on a Monday.
When I received the announcement this week that the new 6th episode was going to be a double Wednesday, I wasn't surprised. And I was pleased that at least it wasn't going to be a Thursday. There's something wrong about a Corrie on a Thursday night. But a little piece of me was saddened that it wasn't a Sunday, I have to admit.
Now that we do have the extra episode though, I'm proud to announce that one of our regular guest bloggers Glenn Meads is joining the team to blog the Wednesday episode. Therefore, our reviewers from Weds 20th September will be as follows:
Monday night double by Rachel Stevenson - twitter @rachel_london
Wednesday night double will be shared by Ryan Oxley - twitter @rybazoxo and Glenn Meads - twitter @Glenn_Writes
Friday night double by Jordan Lloyd - twitter @JordanLloyd39
My heartfelt thanks go to all the episode reviewers, and indeed to all of our blogging team as we gear up for this historic change to the Coronation Street schedule - and all that it may mean to us fans.

Fantastic, I am really pleased to see your volunteering times blogging for us so we can keep up with what happened in Weatherfield, yes there are few times where it was a few days late, or no blog at all. We have to bear in mind that it is a volunteering work! :) Love it, and thank you again!
