A statue of Jean Alexander has been called for in her home town of Stockport.
BBC News reports that ex-Corrie actor Andrew
Lancel, who played Frank Foster in Coronation Street, has called for a statue to the late actress.
Andrew said: "I'm
very proud that I spent some time with Jean over the years in Southport
- she was always charming and unassuming and lovely. There's been an incredible outpouring of love and affection. Let's celebrate a local lass who did wonderful things."
That sounds like a wonderful idea!

You're first sentence needs changing - it's Southport rather than Stockport.
I think the least they could give her is a muriel
Beautiful idea.
Isn't there already one of her somewhere? I swear I recall seeing a photo of it...
It would be very unusual - maybe unprecedented - to have put up a statue of someone still living. That, supposedly, is why they've never attempted to put a permanent statue on the Fourth Plinth at Trafalgar Square; it's being saved for when a Very Important Person is no longer with us. (And, no, I don't mean Mary Berry).
It was a waxwork of the character, rather than a statue honoring the actress:

Out of curiosity, I looked up what kind of people have statues erected while they are still alive. No surprise here, it's dictators and US athletes...
