I've become a fan of Corrie's Callum, although I'm not sure it's for all the right reasons.
The actor who plays him, Sean Ward, is interviewed today in The Mirror where they praise Callum as being "manipulative, selfish, yet definitely a bit of alright, the girls love him, the guys want to be him, and much to our delight, Callum is now on the Street to stay."
Maybe I'm the wrong age (i.e. too old) but those are none of the reasons I'm enjoying watching him. I love the camp, fey way he's styled, his comedy henchmen and motley crew of comic goons. Maybe that's part of the plan as I know I'm not the only Corrie fan to have spotted those qualities, so each to their own.
Sean's interviewed in The Mirror about his life on Corrie and how it's changed since he joined the show. He talks about his new flat, that he's dating Georgia May Foote (Katy Armstrong) in real life, and says the best perk of being on the show is being able to afford a cleaner for his mum.

"he's dating Georgia May Foote in real life"
Well, that was unexpected.
This is one of the few times I'm not on the same page as you, Flaming Nora. Strangely, I like Callum's sidekicks, but not so much the portrayal of this baddie.
Many characters, like R'Todd, turned from good to monstrous. What will Callum become over time? Probably redeemed to some degree, but I doubt he'll ever shed the panto persona. Don't know whether to laugh or cry when he's on screen.
Callum always having to give David a lift home is hilarious and Jack P Shepherd has portrayed David's demoralization brilliantly.
The whole cat-mouse thing is reminiscent of Phelan isn't it? The infighting and dysfunction chez Platt increasingly play into Callum's hand. I think instead of making Callum into a "big, bad drug dealer," they should have just made him a rich kid with a trust fund, a flash car, and easy access to 21st century devices - like smartphones and GPS - that elude most residents on the Street.
Another comic touch, arming David with no other weapon in his race against Callum than his salon scissors... poor Dave.
"guys want to be him"? Really?
I seriously doubt it. Can't stand this character, he's such a weed.
I think that Callum is a good bit of fun to watch...and it is interesting to see how his character is developing in his relationship with his son....
Vintgal, I think this is part of the problem. It's transparently obvious that Callum doesn't really want to be lumbered with a kid, I just wish David would call his bluff and say, OK have him! Callum would soon change his tune if he had Max 24/7.
Why does he keep biting his lip? That's a very affected thing to do.
"A bit of alright"????? If you want someone who's fit take a look at tracey barlows ex And then have another look at callum. I think someone like bethany might find him attractive but no one else.
Oh man, 'he's here to stay'?
That's disappointing. I was hoping he was a flash in the pan and then he'd be gone like the bad smell he is.
It struck me today as hilarious to see this guy who's supposed to be some badass drug dealer who hangs out in dive bars was running on a treadmill at Kal's gym. I've never seen anyone more out of place!
