Andy Whyment, who plays Coronation Street's Kirk Sutherland, has been confirmed as one of the contestants on the new series of Dancing on Ice.
Dancing on Ice begins on Sunday 8 January on ITV1 at 6.30pm.
I wonder how long Andy will be out of Coronation Street for, how his absence will be explained and more importantly, why he's doing this when his character has been floundering on the cobbles for months now without a decent storyline?

Yay go Andy!! I am loving the line up this year it's fantastic! Im sad to hear Hollie has left though and have never been a fan of her replacement christine Bleakley but maybe this will change my opinion of her.
I've seen soap stars continuing with their filming commitments when appearing on Dancing on Ice before - Kieron Richardson and Jennifer Metcalfe from Hollyoaks spring to mind.
Perhaps we won't see too much less of Kirk - here's hoping anyway!
We don't see much of Kirk now!
