What did you think of Corrie's CGI tram?
With thanks to our blogger Chewy who's on twitter as @weatherfieldrec, here's a picture of the Coronation Street tram in CGI as seen on Corrie last night. I'm saying nowt - so what do you think?

All well and good until it jumped a bit as it left the picture! Had to rewind it to see if I was seeing things.
*transport geek hat* It's the wrong colour - the old look trams were white with blue fronts, while the new ones are grey with yellow fronts. This one's white with a yellow front! It's nice to see it turn up though.
Also, what's that hole in the viaduct wall just above the corner shop? Is that FORESHADOWING?
Sorry, but very silly...
It was definitely juddering as it traversed the picture - which really made it stand out as fake. I think it's probably that piece of the recording had been treated differently to the rest of the "natural" picture into which it has been overlaid. Probably because it was interlaced vieo while the rest wasn't. Any tech boffs want to expain it more accurately?
It looked real enough to me although I don't tend to notice these things.
The whole picture should have been left as interlaced HD video, but it wasn't. It was taken into a computer and the shot added... rather badly.... and then somehow the interlacing was dropped, leaving an unprocessed progressive scan image.
I could have done better on my own PC... it was only 10 seconds.
One of the problems of CGI/effects shots is that it's far easier to cover up problems on a progressive image than an interlaced one. CGI on interlaced is a challenge, and I do wonder if they'll decide to shoot the live episode in progressive as a result *(which would look very weird)
I didn't even notice it until now!
I was wondering if we would get a tram shot last night, then it appeared! No need to worry that it looked a bit dodgy, The Mill are doing the cgi for the anniversary
Metrolink trams do judder. When they can be bothered showing up at all.
