Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 16th Dec 7.30 & 8.30 pm

The festive cheer seems to be in short supply on the cobbles these days, and with Christmas just around the corner, we aren't seeing any sign of improvement yet! DS Willets has a huge task ahead of him in this latest whodunnit! The red herrings, suggestive glances, and even a coerced alibi have all already appeared, with aspersions also being cast from inside the Barlow family. Was it an inside job, or someone less obvious?

Simon’s definitely done the graffiti job but could he really have put Adam in a coma? A small and slightly built kid against Adam's broad six-foot stature? However, Simon's had to deal with his alcoholic father, a grieving mother, his brother’s death, and he has previous! DS Willets would have a field day with those motives.

You’d think being foiled by the residents and the brewery’s suffragette connections, developer Ray would have given up by now, and distracted by his own lurid libido, he kind of has!
With Debbie Webster battling on his behalf, the intrepid group of Weatherfield nimby’s are proving a tour de force. The ambiguity of Brian’s poster may have rankled Roy, but Ray’s hardly going to be scuppered by this scooby-doo gang, surely! I do like seeing this cast ensemble together though, there's plenty of comedy.

Maria may have given Gary a gift of freedom with that false alibi but will she regret it? It’s a fine line between love and hate for Sarah and Gary and these two have enough of a past between them. Sarah’s distraught wife act seems to put Daniel of the scent of suspicion, but is that also a red herring? I doubt it’s Gary, he’s enough on already with the Rick murder to cover-up. Sarah is also his ruse in that one, too. It’s a shame she decided to drop him in it with Crimestoppers, isn’t it? Is she implicating herself though because she knows Gary did it...

Todd’s twisting of Paul and Billy’s relationship is plainly obvious. We can all see it of course but Paul can’t can he? Tempting Paul to drink in the day, his inhibitions are loosened enough to spill his guts about Kel, and the hindrance of his helpline volunteering. Todd was almost relishing in it, wasn't he? I always find it interesting how booze is used as a tool for Peter’s awful addiction, but equally, a tool to push smaller plots forward like Paul and Todd's relationship. Anyway, with Carla out of the way now, how long will it be before Peter is drunk with alcohol poisoning and laid up in the hospital?

With the familial strifes of the Platt's, the Barlow’s, and the Webster's, we've little festive cheer this year but as much drama as you’d like! I’m no fan of festive frolics, and after the year we’ve all had, I prefer this drama to any funfair heists like 2019.

What do you think?

I do hope they are lining Peter up for a liver transplant story. The possibilities! Who will be the live donor - his half-brother or his twin sister's son? Both of whom have slept with Carla! Simon will want to but will be told he's too young so lots of angst in that corner. Maybe they'll drag up a long-lost second cousin on his mother's side. Lots more hospital scenes, yay! Tracy will bond with him over their shared experiences as organ recipients. Carla will be forgiven and we'll have another bedside wedding (at least she can be sure he won't be sleeping around on his wedding night this time). And some holier-than-thou person will complain about the waste of NHS resources on someone who 'did it to himself', providing more opportunities to provide insight about this terrible disease of alcoholism.

I think that all the aformentioned suspects of Adam's assault.Carla,Gary,Peter,Sarah and Simon are red herrings and the real culprit is Craig.
Most likely Craig thought he was assaulting Ray when he hit Adam as revenge for Ray raping Faye as Craig hasn't been seen since.
Since Daniel is investigating his nephew's assault, he'll find out that it's Craig but will feel conflicted going to the police since Craig is Sinead's and Bertie's cousin.

Carla moved out of her family's house?

Must be awkward for Peter, having tea and toast with his ex’s dad every morning.

Yup. Looks like it

Not long since Simon was attacking Leanne in a domestic violence storyline so I can believe that he hit Adam from behind. However it could be Faye thinking that it was Ray.
