Preview of tonight's Coronation Street - Thurs 29 Sep

Thursday 29th September

TODD’S CONSCIENCE IS PRICKED Todd tries to talk Billy round into believing him that he was wrong about Phelan and that his business isn’t a scam as they’d first thought. When Billy gives him short shrift, Todd insists on helping Billy with a community project to try and get back in his good books. But in a dramatic turn of events which puts Todd and Billy in an A&E waiting room together, Todd realises how much he wants Billy back and decides he needs to do the right thing and pull out of his partnership with Phelan. But can Phelan persuade him otherwise, and will Todd stay strong?

MARIA’S DEVASTATED BY A DEATH IN THE FAMILY With the death of a close family member imminent, Maria and Kirk share fond memories of their time together and are left devastated when the family member passes away. Caz relishes the opportunity to be a pillar of support to a grieving Maria.

ROY SURPRISES CATHY BY NAMING THE DATE Tyrone tries to gently broach the subject of marriage with Roy and questions him about him and Cathy. Roy is adamant he loves her but Tyrone wonders whether this necessarily means he wants to marry her. Roy is left thoughtful but later takes Cathy by surprise when he suggests they set a date for their wedding. But is Roy sure about this decision?

ELSEWHERE Gail announces that Michael is moving back in but Bethany is traumatised when she walks in on him in the shower and begs Sarah to let them move out into their own place. Gail and Audrey are curious about David’s constantly beeping phone and decide to check it, but are left gobsmacked by what they find.

The back and forth with Billy and Todd is ridiculous. Billy should have stayed with Sean. At least he understood Billy and didn't bring all this crazy illegal drama to the vicar.
And Roy setting a date feels SO wrong. It's just weird. They've never been written like a couple who should be marrying. Everybody hates this storyline.

I'm hoping that setting a date will lead to Roy realising he doesn't want to marry Cathy (who's too pushy by half) after all, and that we finally get rid of her and the awful Alex. In fact, I'm relying on Tyrone to be instrumental in Roy's salvation!

Why do folk in soaps often walk in on others in the shower? Does nobody ever lock the bathroom door?!

Then again, knowing how soaps manage these things the sooner Roy and Cathy marry,or at least get into church to try to, the sooner they'll split up. Fingers crossed.

In a house full of people it might be troublesome to lock the door since there only seems to be one bathroom, but I'm not understanding how entering a bathroom means you see what's going on in the tub or shower. Shower curtains exist at least in part to conceal occupants who are washing up from those walking in.

If the occupants are all family I understand them not locking the door, but the Platts' house contains children and a teenage girl, so it's completely inappropriate for a middle-aged man like Michael not to lock the door or at least let people know he's in there. In my flat-sharing days we always said when we were having a bath, in case any of the others needed the loo! And of course you're right about shower curtains and doors.

Got to disagree with Zagg on Todd and Billy. I thought Langley & Brocklebank both played a blinder tonight with very moving performances in the A&E. And AT LAST, we finally learned what made Todd so cynical. And I love the fact there was no advance notice of this revelation. I find these two characters vaccinating together. Billy with Sesn was dull and, even worse, utterly unbelievable.

sorry Cobblestone, but I'm not quite sure what you mean by "vaccinating" I hate to be the grammar Nazi but did you mean fascinating? or is this some new urban lingo where "vaccinating" means one protects the other against any unsavory aspect?

Anonymous said...

I don't understand the vaccinating reference either. Hope it's just a typo, and not someone trying to use big words in the wrong place. Could you please clarify Cobblestone?

Or, are they going around administering the winter flu jab to everyone?

I thought it must be auto-correct for fascinating.
