The Sun has a Coronation Street spoiler today that Julie Carp will open a Fruit and Veg shop on Victoria Street, where Elliot & Son butchers is currently. The butcher shop has remained empty since early December 2010, when Ashley Peacock was killed by the killer tram.
It'll be fun to see Julie and Brian setting up shop, with any luck they will get Eileen working in there, as I think she's wasted in the factory.

I like the sound of this!
So where does she get the money to buy the shop? I hope it doesnt pop out of thin air.
What a cracking 'pear' they will make! Sorry, blame the lovely sunshine.
I was wondering where they'd get the money from, too...but doesn't Julie still have a load of money stashed away that she inherited from her father? Eileen used her share to buy the house, but Julie never touched hers, did she? She offered to lend it to Eileen to pay for the roof the other month. Plus Brian is a headteacher, isn't he, so would be on a good salary - although why he'd want to open a shop is anyone's guess!
I think this is a great idea and could lead to a lot of fun which is what we need at the moment with too many nasty characters being introduced. However its in a bit of a time warp like Underworld as most small shops especially in this austerity age are going down in favour of the big cheaper supermarkets.
Well it's not like they necessarily have to buy the premises, they could rent it from Claire. If Ashley inherited it from Fred, there might not be a mortgage on it, but i imagine the writers have forgotten that. Ashley had cashflow problems when he probably shouldn't have as far as mortgages on his inherited house and business went.
When did anyone see any resident of the Street eating anything as healthy as fruit and veg? Their diet seems to consist of hotpot, fry ups from Roys, balmcakes and fish fingers and beans at Sallys. Deirdre would rather have a fag than a banana and Gail always gets her shopping from Freschos and has for the last 50 years!
Well it's not like they necessarily have to buy the premises
True, but any business venture of this nature is going to have significant start-up costs, even if the premises is rented rather than purchased. So the financial aspect would have to be addressed. Julie certainly couldn't afford it on her Underworld salary - but the money she inherited and stashed away might be enough, I forget how much it was.
I'm just chuffed that Brian is going to be a regular!!
as an aside, how come Eileen is working in the factory?
I think I missed some episodes awhile after the tram crasb...
Carla took Eileen on in the packing department and for some reason she's now sewing. I don't recall anything in the story about that, she just started at the machine.
Frosty is right about the Corrie diet. Only last week, Gary was making egg and chips for tea! Maybe this provides some scope for Julie to give some lectures on getting five a day.
This sounds brilliant! I was hoping that Julie got together with Brian!
Not sure about Brian but more Julie is great and yes Eileen in the shop instead of at the factor would be a plus......has Eileen any machine experience, it's not as if anyone can just sit down and start sewing. Eileen needs to eitehr get back to Streetcars or work with Julie.....totally wasted in the factory. Oh yeah, the question of Julie renting the butcher shop from Claire....is she not still on the run from the law in France..?.....does anyone know how to get in contact with her...?
Love Jules...about time she had a man in her life. Fun stuff ahead I hope..after all the misery since the Tram Crash.
Absolutely chuffed for Julie. This may just be the tonic we need from all the murders, kidnappings, love triangles, fraud, violence. Now we need a Hilda and all will be right with the world.
O.M.G., as Julie says, won't Norris and Mary be in a twist. Granted they don't sell fruit and veg, but they hate new trade. This will be good. AND, PLEASE, let them stay more than a few months, yeah?
This'll be brilliant and I'm sure Julie will rely on her inheritance and maybe after all that's happened, Brian will want a big change in his career? I think this has the potential to be a sort of "health food store" and wouldn't it be amusing if Julie started reading Tarot card or something zany on the side? She has huge potential for humour and this show really needs it!
Sounds good in many ways! A "new" couple for one. And just having fresh fruit & veg visible will be a nice change. Why is it every scene in a soap or drama where the character is cooking tea, they are always cutting carrots? Nothing else, just carrots. Julie & Brian won't have to preach health, just providing the fresh food on The Street will be an incentive. Dev won't be pleased, as he sells what pass for fresh fruit & veg at his shop. Maybe Julie can give cooking lessons on the side.
Anyone remember Vernon? Wasn't he brilliant. Wish he'd come back lookung for Liz and get a job in this fruit & veg shop
"Only last week, Gary was making egg and chips for tea!"
Remember the mint sauce!!! Strangest combination I've ever heard of.....
If it is known that Julie and Brian are renting from Claire, won't the police be asking how did they get in touch with her when the police are still presumably still looking to charge her with assaulting Tracy?
It's not real!
Talking of money, what happened to TracyLuv's money she inherited from Blanche?
I love Julie & Brian, but i dont think Dev will be 2 happy about the druit & veg shop, can't wait xxx
