Coronation Street Producer Stuart Blackburn was interviewed on BBC Radio 4's Today programme this week. He was talking about Hayley's right-to-die storyline and defends it, saying it does not advocate "copycat suicides".
He talks about Coronation Street's resposibility to portray this storyline correctly and respectfully and how Corrie has worked with The Samaritans on this storyline too.
Stuart is the second man to start talking in the interview, so keep listening...

I just want to say that we have seen actors on Corrie deliver amazing performances when given the proper material.
It does not have to be gloomy....Corrie is known for humour too.
But when it comes to misses...I refuse to blame or criticise the actors. The writers and ultimately the producers are to blame.
Corrie can deliver quality - as long as they do not drag out stories.....cut off stories in mid breath....or insult the talent with mundane or out of character scripts.
You'd think the BBC would get the names of its guests right, wouldn't you?! I heard her call Stuart Blackburn Stuart Blzckman twice and even in the text on the radio 4 page it says, "Stuart Blackman, a producer from the show". Hmmm bad show, BBC. :)
'Haley' and 'Roy' are amazing actors. This story line is so true and very loving and caring played.
Well done to both.
Few actors are as good.
Story lines are mostly futile these days and dragged on and on.
The writers may have come to realise that the viewers lose interest if it nonsensical and looooong.
So sorry to see Haley go.
I look with interest how Roy will cope in the near future.
