Walkies in Weatherfield! Coronation Street celebrates National Pet Day with 200 dogs on set

Open to the public on weekends since 2015, the ‘Coronation Street Experience’ has had hundreds of thousands of visitors over the years, but not many with paws!

On Sunday 12th April 2026 that all changed as over 200 dogs headed to Weatherfield to wander along Britain’s most famous cobbles in celebration of National Pet Day (Saturday 11th April).

Visitors from as far away as Falkirk and Somerset joined their owners for some very special photo ops as the pooches posed outside the pub, played Rover outside Roys Rolls, barked outside the Bistro, catwalked (oops?) along the cobbles and if they were lucky got a Puppicino to celebrate a UK first as ‘Canineration Street’ came to life .

Special ‘Weatherfield Woof’ limited edition merchandise was available in the Experience shop including dog bowls, branded treats and dog bandanas, and all proceeds from every dog ticket was donated to Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity.

Previous winner of ITV’s This Morning’s ‘Pup Idol’, Boris, even made the return journey from Portsmouth to join fellow runners up from last years' competition for a very special meet-up.

Owner, Susan Rogers said “We had a great time and Boris was very proud to be back on the cobbles! Obviously he had a head start having won Pup Idol and been filmed for an episode and as he met all his new furry friends on the day, I have no doubt he was putting them straight about what it was like to be an actual 'Star of the show'!”
