Amy's baby - just what did happen 10 weeks ago?

I've read the spoiler in The Sun and so I thought I knew who Amy's baby daddy was. But now I'm not so sure.

If that character is indeed the father of Amy's child then the last time he was on screen was back in September, according to Corriepedia.  And it's been pointed out to me on Twitter this morning by Corrie fan John Hughes that the character might have been in the young offender's institution at the time.

That doesn't mean of course that Amy couldn't have met him off-screen when he came out of the institution as she'd have been aware of him and who he was.

If Amy is 10 weeks pregnant, not 6 weeks as was confirmed last night, let's have a look at what was going on back then.

10 weeks ago was Wednesday, November 14th 2018.

Around that time, young Amy was going through hell with her mum and dad. It was the time when she drew up a contract for them to sign and if they didn't sign, she threatened to divorce them.

Also at that time, Seb (see where I'm going with this?) was arguing with Abi over the court case about putting the twins up for adoption. It was also the time when Seb broke into the florists too, and later, at The Rovers, Seb wallowed in self-pity, before being seen (and I quote from blogger Ryan's review of that night) "angry and anguished; raging in fact".

Might Seb have taken solace with Amy, the two of them chatting on Maxine's bench over a bag of chips and then one thing led to another?

  1. That's not how pregnancy is counted. If she is 10 weeks pregnant, then she actually conceived 8 weeks ago. So your dates are off.

  2. I dislike this story for Amy. Another teen girl pregnancy storyline? Just went through it with Faye a while back. I give the actress credit, she's doing her best with the material she's been given. Amy's one of the best of the younger characters, making her pregnant just seems like the writers threw a dart at a wall of topical issues for teens. Boring.

It is quite boring actually, but I suppose it leads into another storyline about Steve and Tracey adopting their grandchild. How all 5 of of them are going to manage in that tiny flat is beyond me. Both Steve and Tracey own their own business - why are they shacking up with Liz?

Also Seb is HIV positive. He'd want to use protection, wouldn't he?

  5. I can't see Seb being remotely interested in a child Amy's age. And like Sharon said he is HIV positive so one would certainly hope he would use protection!

  6. As said above, this storyline is about Steve and Tracy. No convictions are spent when it comes to adoption so Tracy's conviction for murder should count against her. She got off because of a technicality not because it was proven that she didn't kill someone. They will need social services' approval and, in any case, the baby's father and family will probably know the background and use it to oppose the adoption. It's only a soap and we should suspend our disbelief - except when tptb tell us otherwise! - but her character should pay for her past behaviour. Tracy was sentenced to fifteen years and probably did less than five.

  7. I dislike this story line as well. They have taken Amy from being more mature then her parents to a young women who al of a sudden sleeps around? She thought she was 6 weeks but she is 10. If the spoilers are correct as to the daddy, did this fellow get out twice? Or do they have her having multiple partners as well. I guess we will have to wait and see.
