If you thought the actress who played Michael Rodwell's aunt Barbara Deakin on Coronation Street last night looekd familiar, then you're not alone. I sat and scratched my head too. The actress is Beatrice Kelly and she's one of those actresses who have been on our TV screens for decades in many different roles.
Beatrice Kelly has appeared on Coronation Street before. In 1996 she played Carol Palmer who was the mother in law of the red-haired Claire Palmer, who played Des Barnes' girlfriend.
Her IMDB profile is here.

Well I hope they bring in in full time, Corries needs an actor like her, a strong but fundamentally kind character with no gimmicks. She's lovely but probably the wrong colour for Corrie at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI saw a resemblance to Julie Goodyear actually. Those eyes! But I did like aunty Barbara.
ReplyDeleteI thought the same, we need an older kindly salt of the earth woman to chew the fat in the Rovers with the older cast members but all older female characters like the overbearing Yasmin have to be selfish domineering bullies.
ReplyDeleteI liked Barbara a lot - I'd definitely love to see more of her.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same, that they could develop her character into being a regular, when I first saw her I thought it was the actress Mavis Rogerson, who played Edna Gee !
ReplyDeleteDid she really once рlay a character called Eileen Grimshaw? lol
ReplyDeleteWhat was so good is that is she is a good old-fashioned northerner, rather than some nondescript metrosexual character that could come from anywhere. And instead of "hiding a deep, dark secret" (yawn), instead she simply exuded warmth. Delightful.
