Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 18th January

It's moving day on Corrie. Tim is eating Coco-pops out of Sally's Clarice Cliff bowl (looks more like BhS to me) and mooting the idea of moving to Spain, which Sally flatly turns down. I'm with Sally on this one; not only is there Covid, but they'd only be allowed to stay for 90 days at a time. Why doesn't Faye just move to live with her mum if she wants to put everything behind her? Apart from no longer having an acting job, I guess. She tells Craig everything that's happened and he persuades her to hand herself in. Tim, needing to be angry with someone, gets annoyed with Craig for letting Faye fess up to the feds.

As for the other residents, Gail emotionally blackmails Nick into letting her move in with him and Sam, and Yasmeen says she's not moving until she gets the money. David has less luck though as Ray already bought number 8 and says he'll get him kicked out if David refuses to leave.

Gay Gangster Mick is back! back! back! And he's chucking Rotten Ray from a van out onto t'cobbles. I do hope that he keeps popping up, comically bullying people - there must be a power vacuum in the Mancunian world of gangsters since Gary buried Rick in the woods. And I guess Ray's not such a sophisticated businessman after all if he's going to loan sharks.

Ray meets up with the bent Chairperson who demands more money to keep schtum. Maybe she could go hang out with Joe Anderson? Debbie finds out that Ray doesn't have the money to pay for the Metcalfes and Nazir houses. Bad things come in threes and the po-po turn up to arrest him. I'm relieved that this storyline is finally coming to a head - I think it was reasonably obvious that the high rise was never gonna happen as the set builders, carpenters and crew might resign if they had to build a whole new set only 8 years after building the new (current) one.

The incredible sulk (Dylan) is back after being excluded from school. No offence to Violet but what kind of parent sends their kid 200 miles on a train on their own during a pandemic? I guess she didn't have much choice if that's what the script-writers decided. Turns out that Dylan was suspended because he was being bullied because he has a gay dad. Someone should tell him they were a short lived but popular 90s band.

  1. I’m hoping that the Platts will decide to get rid of that hideous wallpaper and dirty soft furnishings before they move back in.

  2. Natasha won't be happy seeing Gail in her house and Nick had no right letting her stay with him and Sam
