Anyone else as shocked as I was that Gina left Coronation Street this week? After many times of trying to leave - and failing - our blogger Merseytart said in his Five Things We Learned in Corrie (last week's edition) that Gina had given more farewell tours than Cher.
But this time she's actually gone.
And I'll miss her.
Actress Connie Hyde, who played Gina, wrote on Twitter:
Thank you so much for all your lovely messages. What a ride, so privileged to be part of this iconic show. All respect and love to crew and cast and especially my phenomenal sis @sallydynevor @itvcorrie

Absolutely delighted about Gina's departure. Sally went about 25 years without seeing or mentioning her sister, so I doubt she will miss her now.
ReplyDeleteSo why didn't they kill her in the factory roof collapse? Would have been much more dramatic.
ReplyDeleteYes Fluttershy, I thought they had intimated that she would be the death at the factory....
ReplyDeleteThis is the right exit story. Gina can come back with the same head or a new one at any time in the future. It's quite handy for Gina to be around to provide a bolt-hole for Sally as the writers do with Janice and Andy.
ReplyDeleteI won't miss her at all, I never warmed up to her.
ReplyDeleteYay! What a relief. I wish the actress well as she was good but this character was a nuisance from the start and the fact that Gina was instrumental in ruining Sally and Tim which were a great couple until she rode her broomstick into town just made her irredeemable.
ReplyDeleteActress good but character won't be missed.
ReplyDeleteWish the actress well but will not miss the character at all. She never really seemed to fit.
