Yesterday blogger Sunny Jim and I were deep in conversation about Coronation Street conspiracies. And we started talking about who the shady person in black was that we saw on screen just before the Underworld roof collapse.
Sunny Jim reckons it might be Adam Barlow. And here, I have to say I have absolutely NO idea from any sources at all as to who the person actually was, this is pure fan speculation.
Sunny Jim says that Adam Barlow hasn't been seen for a while on screen but ITV have confirmed he's coming back. Read more on that here.
And Adam's always felt cheated out of losing Underworld to the Connors, as he always felt it was his dad Mike Baldwin's place. So could Adam Barlow really be the one who caused the roof to cave in, and kill Rana?
If you don't think it was Adam, which conspiracy theory do you prefer instead?

Norris. He’s looking into expanding and wants a bigger space for the hobnobs and magazines. He’ll mysteriously arrive back to Weatherield after the factory investigation is under way...he’s a crafty one that Norris ;)
ReplyDeleteHate to disappoint Sunny Jim but Adam was not on Corrie's own list and historically one of those named by the programme makers gets the blame eventually.
ReplyDeletePersonally I go with it being Gary, mainly because I want him gone from the cobbles and his overwhelming need for the roof job to pay back the loan shark must mean it was him.
The killer of Frank Foster was his mother and she was not on the list if my memory served me right.
ReplyDeleteRana wasn't on ITV's list of possible victims of the collapse either, which is quite annoying. Why bother with a list then?
ReplyDeleteTracy Barlow. Motive? Well she is Tracy Barlow.
ReplyDeleteI'm still torn between Nick and Gary.
ReplyDeleteGary - knew the roof was unsafe, and needed building work desperately.
Nick - mentioned getting a 'windfall' coming soon, and is not above doing something this dastardly.
Neither would have known that anyone was in the factry at the time.
Jeanie (anon): There doesn't seem to be a clear front-runner, but if I had to, I'd guess Robert. Reasons: 1. he looked genuinely dismayed when he first heard about the roof collapse and death and said something like, "but no one was supposed to be inside!" 2. it would make sense for him to be written out/leave with Michelle going too; he has little connection to the street and his shelf life is long past; 3.he has suddenly and inexplicably gone angry and bad which is often a clear sign that a character is being done-over as he prepares to exit the show; 4. he has suddenly and again inexplicably developed an intense hatred for Carla which seems again to be preparing him for an eventual exit.
ReplyDeleteIf it is Robert and he leaves, it means that he will not be the slow-boil baddie but I don't think it was ever actually said that the person responsible for the roof collapse and the long-term villain had to be the same.
I think it was Nick and Gary working together.
ReplyDeleteThey both need money and Nick mentioned to David that he'll be getting a '50\50 windfall'meaning the insurance money split with Gary who he enlisted to sabotage the roof due to his work experience.
Another reason I think it's these two is that Sarah was conviently out of harm's way the day of the roof collapse and that Gary realising that Izzy the mother of his son was genuinely relieved that she was safe after getting over the shock of employees being in the factory when it was supposed to be empty.
Could it have been Jan the Polish fellow who works with Gary? He is a roofer and was hoping for the job to fix the roof.
ReplyDeleteJust a few comments on the roof collapse, did no one notice that Izzy had left the factory, amid the collapse Kirk and Paul sitting eating a bag of cheese snacks, how did Rana get into the factory, the door was locked. Rana is lying there and rescuers are not doing anything to get her out, just one standing there holding an IV bag and the Doctor just sitting there. Kate comes in and her dress or shoes don't even get dirty entering a dirty building with debris all around. And to top it off, after they said their vows, Kate comes up with the rings just happened to be sitting there beside her, not even in the bag that Rana went to get. This was so poorly written. It was so unbelievable. Is this the best the writers can do. No wonder they are losing an audience.
ReplyDeletePat Phelan? Surely he's still alive somewhere.
