Video: Kirk sings Sex on Fire on The X-Factor 2010
Last night's Coronation Street showed an excited Kirk Sutherland wondering if he had the voice and talent to make it onto The X-Factor.
Cast your mind back to Coronation Street's 50th anniversary in 2010 and you might remember Kirk has already been on The X-Factor.
In the ITV show Coronation Street: The Big 50 hosted by Paul O'Grady to celebrate Coronation Street's 50th anniversary, the show featured a sketch showing Coronation Street's Kirk Sutherland auditioning for The X Factor.
In the sketch, Andy Whyment, who plays Kirk, was seen lining up among thousands of singing hopefuls in a bid to impress The X Factor judges, Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger.
You can watch it here.
Kirk belted out the Kings of Leon hit Sex is on Fire in the professional singing voice of Andy Whyment. I've been lucky enough to hear Andy sing live and he's fantastic.
It seems odd then that Corrie are revisiting this Kirk and X-Factor storyline showing Kirk unable to hold a note this time around.
I'll get me anorak.

In 2006, Andy Whyment came second in the show 'Soap Star Super Star' with Rod Stewart's 'Maggie May'. Richard Fleeshman came top; he played Corrie character Craig Harris. Richard's mother is Sue Jenkins who played Gloria Todd in Corrie. Several young Corrie actors come from local stage schools and can sing, dance and act. I, too, have an anorak.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard him sing before -- he's amazing!
ReplyDeleteLove the anorak comment, HD 😅. Got a virtual one myself, too.
