You're the new Corrie producer - who would you bring back?

You're the new Coronation Street producer - who would you bring back?

Let's list our favourite five that we'd like to see return to the show.

In no particular order, here's my five. Let us know your five too!

1. Spider Nugent
Loveable eco-warrier or unwashed hippy? Whatever your stance on Spider, he's a unique Coronation Street character. There's been no-one like him before or since. And if he was brought back, he could tackle Toyah about those flowery blouses she's taken to wearing. Let's have him turn up at one of Toyah's vegan events and get him back on the Street.

2. Tricia Hopkins
The wonderful Kathy Jones, who played Tricia, should return to the show. Gail was brought in to Coronation Street as a friend for Tricia, the original Corrie dollybird. At a time when Corrie is suffering from not enough older, strong women, it's time surely for Tricia to return. She could right brighten up Gail's day.

3. Curly Watts
Kevin Kennedy, who played Curly Watts, has made no secret of the fact that he'd love to return to Coronation Street. Let's grant his wish, just for a fleeting visit to his old mate Kevin to console him about young Jack.

4. Stephen Reid
Audrey's son and Gail's half (or step?) brother Stephen is living and working in Milan.  Time to bring him back to cheer up the Platt clan, perhaps taking young David under his wing.

5. Andy McDonald

Steve's (non-identical) twin is living and working in Spain and is often mentioned. Time then to brign him back for a fleeting visit and perhaps a fling with Steve's fiancee Tracy Barlow, making Steve realise, before it's too late, that he really doesn't like Tracy all that much after all.

Who would be your top 5 characters to bring back to the show?

    1. No, no, no. Definitely not Jim McDonald. What could be bring to the show that he's not done before? His character is still in the stone age and hasn't evolved with the times. He just re hashes old story lines that he's done before. Martin Platt's, and huge big yes. Jim McDonald, an overwhelming no

  4. No particular order...
    Claire Peacock & sons
    Shelley Unwin
    Danny Baldwin
    Craig Harris
    Martin Platt
    Karen MacDonald
    Jim MacDonald
    Jason Grimshaw
    Todd Grimshaw
    Jaime Baldwin
    Angela Harris
    Katie Harris

I’m sure there’s a couple more I should include but have slipped my mind at the moment lol

  5. Graeme Proctor and Nick Tilsley - David needs a friend and his bro.
Ted - either he needs to be back in Gail’s life, or he needs to die and leave her a small fortune. Resolve that loose thread.
    Jason and Todd Grimshaw
    Martin Platt
Nicola Thorp - she has so much potential beyond Pat Phelan
Becky - Her husband could get transferred back to Manchester. She could also come for a solo visit to take care of Roy if he were ill.
Spider - he could also come to settle Emily’s affairs. It would be nice to see a happy Toyah.

  6. If you could bring back the dead, I'd bring back Andy and Liam. Otherwise, I'd love to see the following return (with original actors)

    Julie Carp
    Nicola Thorp
Becky MacDonald (whatever her new last name is)
    Todd Grimshaw
    Lloyd Mullaney

  7. I may be in the minority about this but I wouldn't bring anyone back.
Toyah's much hyped return has been a disappointment and she's almost become a ruined character with the Susie story line.
The cast is large enough and I would like to see story lines centered around underused characters instead of the same families[Platts,Connors,Websters,Metcalfes and Barlows]being featured all the time.

  8. Absolutely NOT Stephen and his horrible Canadian accent!

Lloyd is the only character I can think of that should come back.

  9. Lloyd, Curly Spider and Ciaran (just for long enough to convince Michelle to run away with him)

  10. Ciaran McCarthy
    Sylvia (Roy's mother)
    Graeme Proctor
    Martin Platt
    Jim McDonald
    Spider

I always liked Shelley Unwin too, although I don't know if she would fit on the street now.

There are other characters that I miss, like Craig Harris, Lloyd, Becky, Karen, etc., but either the actors/actresses who play them have made it clear they're not coming back, or it wouldn't make sense for the character to return (for instance, why would Craig come back to where his father was murdered by his sister, his mother was arrested, and his sister committed suicide?).

  11. NO, no, NO to Stephen!

The others are fine - just add Kieran, Danny Baldwin (would be interesting to see him with Carla), Becky (to release Steve from Tracy's grip), Graeme, and Todd (with his original head, please. Billy and Summer need him!)

  12. Рat Рhelan - although he's not really dead,is he? He'll turn uр in Ireland or Wales before you know it :)

  13. Bet, just for a short time to make up with Rita.

I would love to see Shelley visit with her son (I think she had a boy?) who would look like Charlie - Tracy's reaction would be interesting! It would be uncomfortable for Peter too.

Toyah's personality could also return and we could all enjoy seeing what she used to be like.

    Andy Mcdonald.

  16. All of Steves ex-wives with the kids they never told him about and all at the e same time . (I have a vivid imagnation). That could be fun to watch.

  17. I doubt that Bruno Langley would be welcomed back as Todd. After all he was fired amidst scandal.

Jim, well, isn't he already returning.

But yeah, either some of these people wouldn't make sense to return nowadays or certain actors like Katherine Kelly and Sally Lindsay would not return. Kevin Kennedy really wants to, but I think those please are falling on deaf ears.

  18. Sian Powers (I truly believe she and Sophie are meant to be)
    Graeme Proctor
    Todd Grimshaw
    Jason Grimshaw
    Becky McDonald
    Rob Donovan
Craig Harris (loved him and Rosie together)

And if we could bring someone back from the dead: Tina McIntyre.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh my gosh, Rob, yes! Forgot about him! He and Tracy were great to watch together!

  20. Totally agree Laura. And I would add Kelly Crabtree to my list too.

    I'd have:
Nick Tisley (Ben Price- we miss you)
    Jason Grimshaw
Martin Platt - the actor who plays him (Sean Wilson?) was fab in recent episodes
Becky McDonald to stir up trouble with Steve and Tracey
    Spider as Toyah's love interest
Shelley Unwin and her mum Bev - I'd love to see them running The Rovers together
    Ted - Gail's dad
Julie Carp - Eileen needs her half sister
Rob Donovan - to create rouble with the Connor clan
Mike, Liz's recent love interest. Shame they cut his character
Amber - Dev's cynical but funny daughter
Kelly Crabtree too! She could be Rob's love interest.
