5 Things We Learned in Classic Corrie This Week

Accusations and Truths

Having been previously arrested for drink driving, Mike had his day in court although he was convinced his solicitor would get him off. However he ended up getting fined and banned for 12 months.

He took it upon himself to decide that it was Vera who set him up and promptly sacked her. However it turned out it was actually Ida. Ivy told Ida that if she didn’t come clean to Mike, she’d tell him herself so Ida reluctantly told Mike the truth.

The Wanderer Returns

Audrey made her much anticipated return from Canada and it became clear she hasn’t aged a day in the last 30 years. She wastes no time in sharing pictures of her son Stephen to an enthusiastic Gail.

However, her joy is not shared by Alf who is put out at the fact all she has done since she came back from Canada is talk about Canada, while he has been struggling in her absence. Fortunately they patched up their differences.

When I’m Cleaning A Pub

The lack of a cleaner at the Rovers is still proving a problem, with Bet not believing Alec when he says he’s got the matter in hand. However, eventually Sandra Stubbs arrives and after Alec has to be persuaded due to Sandra’s black eye, he offers her the job.

Sandra doesn’t help herself by being several hours late on her first day. However Bet and Betty both lie to Alec that she’s been there for several hours when it’s actually been a matter of minutes

Starting From The Bottom

Alan is still determined to make a go of his burglar alarm business and persuades Rita to let him use the Yard as a premises so that he can get a loan from the bank. At this point Rita is impressed at how quickly he’s moving.

However, Alan then claims that he needs £1,000 for materials and despite Rita previously telling Mavis she wouldn’t be giving Alan any more money, in the end she does precisely that- telling him that it’s a gift

Age Is (Not) Just A Number

Percy has a meeting with the council as he has not responded to a number of letters. Presumably he hasn’t had time in between gossiping about all his neighbours. At the meeting he is told he is being evicted as he has reached mandatory retirement age.

Being Percy, he doesn’t take this lying down, pointing out to Diedre that he has always done a good job at the community centre. She promises to have a word with the council but there is nothing she can do.
