Some of my favourite in there... this is going to be tough.
ReplyDeleteI think there's more disagreement about who the best men are compared with the women. My favourites are Albert, Alec, Curly, Mike and Jerry, but I've encountered many fans who can't stand them.
Surprised at Len's low vote in particular - there's no way he's not a top tier character. It's like leaving off Elsie Tanner from the women.
Ah, but there may be other reasons why LF didn't get many votes.
ReplyDeleteI was also surprised by Len's low votes.
ReplyDeleteWhile Peter Adamson's private life might have skewed the votes, there is no doubt that Len was Corrie's main man for nearly 25 years.
Personally, I would've put him in the top 10, based on the CHARACTER. He was a part of a strong ensemble of men in that era (Alf, Ray, Albert, Fred Gee, Ken, Mike, Stan, Eddie). And he was the only man that could stand shoulder to shoulder with the strong women of the street (Elsie, Bet, Ena, Annie and Rita).
