Corrie's Amy Kelly lands new TV role

Amy Kelly, who plays Maddie Heath in Coronation Street, is leaving the show, as we already know.

Amy has now been cast in a new ITV show called Jericho.  It's an 8 part drama series set in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1870s, Described as rough, rustic yet with a wild west carnival atmosphere, Jericho is a community of pioneers, settlers and outcasts and people with secrets to hide.

Amy will play the role of Martha. The show will go into production later this month in North Yorkshire.

  1. When Amy first appeared on the cobbles...I really did not take to her character...BUT....I am now sad to see her leave.... The writers have developed her character into someone really lovely actually.....

  3. I did not like this character at all. Then I figured out what it was, she was lumped with Sophie Webster who just brought her right down. When Maddie was with Norris or Tim you saw a cheeky glint and tons of potential. Sad it's her that's going and not Sulky Sophie who brings nothing to the show. Good luck to her, she's very talented.

Well bes of luck to the young actress, she has had the foresight to leave what was becoming a pointless role as the rapidly pointless Maddar - appendage to Shouty Sophie. Good on her for getting another role so quickly.

  6. In the old days, leaving Coronation Street was a passport to oblivion. Now, happily, and rightly, the reverse is the case. No matter what you think of the character, Amy Kelly immediately struck me as an actor with great potential. Let's hope Murphy proves it.

  7. Well the better actors will probably get work but the hams would probably get rather hungry and they know it. That is why so many of them cling to the gravy train.
