What do you make of the possible pairing of Nick and Carla on Coronation Street?
After tonight's episode showed them getting cosy on the soft furnishings and sharing a bottle of wine, could there be romance in the air? Should there be?
Would Carla really want another one of Leanne's cast-offs? What would Gail make of it if they got together?
I hope they don't get together because I like feisty, fired-up Carla and I think Nick is far too beige for her, so I say Nay.
What do you think?

Carla and Nick have a long history together - have the writers forgotten or do they intend to play on old acrimonies?
ReplyDeleteFrom Wikipedia:
2010:
- Nick becomes interested in buying a share of Underworld but Carla Connor declines his offer. He briefly meets Leanne, who has warned Carla not to trust Nick.
- Determined to invest, he starts dating Kelly Crabtree and persuades her to get Underworld's accounts so he can estimate what he should offer for a share of the factory.
- Carla accepts and he becomes a partner but agrees to fire Kelly for giving him the information he needed. (b-atch)
- Nick takes money from the factory safe to bribe a witness in Gail's trial.
- Tony Gordon, escapes from prison and burns down the factory, forcing Nick to seek new premises for Underworld.
- Leanne lets Nick use The Joinery (suckah). While Carla is on holiday, he renames Underworld "Nick's Nicks" (or was that Just Nick's Nicks?)
The story goes on (and on) after that with Nick screwing over Natasha, followed by Natasha screwing over Nick – a new twist on the old abortion storyline with Leanne, where Nick proves once again he's not reliable father material – leading up to Nick falling out with Carla over her relationship with Trevor Dean... yada yada yada
Nick is such a weasle of a character, also a traitor to Peter, I'm not sure where in herself Carla would find the rationale to overlook the entire back story, unless she got amnesia in LA!
I'd completely forgotten about that!
DeleteBut even without that history it'd still be a eeeuugh no from me.
It will be more believable if Nick thinks he's in with a chance and Carla's completely oblivious.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you but I think Carla works well with everyone so it'll be interesting to see where the writers are going with this. Maybe that's just me but I'm also looking forward to watching Alison King and Ben Price working together.
I say nay too because I don't think they have chemistry and I suspect it's more about justifying a storyline for Nick.
ReplyDeleteI also wonder what happened to Roy's and Carla's friendship? That seems all but forgotten now.
Absolutely NAY! Watching them together tonight was painful. Zero rapport, and no build-up to even make this in the least realistic. Just cannot see them romantically involved, or even as biz friends. Good grief!
ReplyDeleteI think Nay. She'd be bored with him in a week. He might like to think he's a dynamic businessman but he's a wet momma's boy
ReplyDeleteI still think there's a chance Nick and Leanne will reconcile. Might just be a lead-in to that storyline when Kal leaves. There's too much history for a relationship between Nick and Carla to last long.
ReplyDeleteTrue that-I think you are right it may be in the cards.
DeleteWell I would like to see them interact more with each other but I'd say YAY for a friendship between them or even a "will they/won't they?" story - and NAY for a long term relationship. Carla would be bored in no time.
ReplyDeleteI liked seeing another side to Nick. I say "yes" to this tryst.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell, let's just throw anyone together now. Let's have Corrie become a big ol'train wreck until Blackburn's reign is over. Then the damage control can finally begin.
ReplyDeleteNAY. See comment #1 and Tvor's "wet mama's boy".
ReplyDeleteThere was strong chemistry when Carla was with Peter, but I just don't see it with Nick. And why should she even give him the time of day after what he did to her backalong? This week's scenes between them are so unconvincing. Why do tptb think that all women need a man, however shaky. I like Carla and Michelle's friendship, they are good for each other. And heaven knows Michelle needs a friend right now.
ReplyDeleteNay! Carla's not that desperate, even with her neurotic need to have a man in her life. I can't imagine she hasn't found someone a lot more interesting on one of her trips to the States. She's beautiful, smart, with her own business -a "catch".
ReplyDeleteI say nay. They come from two different world's
ReplyDeleteIts a NAY from Frosty. I thought the scenes daft yesterday, where does Underworld get all these wierd clients from? Then jet lagged and tired Carla would have just gone to bed and not answered her mobile phone if she had really just returned from LA.
ReplyDeleteThen why call Nick, he is a Bistro owner, not a computer geek, and why didnt she just go the short journey to the office to use the computer there? Just contrived for yet another pair with no chemistry to have an "affair".
I could care less if they got together. All I care about is the cherry blossom art on Carla's wall. Where can I buy that? Is there a store online where I could buy it?
ReplyDelete- Shannon E.
Nay. It's too "Enders", where everyone eventually hooks up with everyone else on the square. That's some nice info from Wikipedia up top. I'd forgot about how nasty Nick was when he was involved at the fact'ry.
ReplyDeleteLet's give them a chance. This could be a bit more interesting than Nick and that old trout he was messing with..that was gross.
ReplyDeleteI'm another member of "No" camp. With the history I just don't see it, especially when Carla's recovering from Peter's affair and Rob's murder conviction. I don't think she'd be up to trusting someone she is capable of betrayal, especially when she was the target of Nick's scheming in the past.
ReplyDeleteI'm also a "nay" on this one.
ReplyDeleteBut I was wondering about why Carla called Nick. Do they live in the same building? Carla obviously no longer lives in the flat above the bookies, within walking distance of Underworld. And Nick does not live on the street, near the Bistro. If they are in the same building, some distance away from their respective workplaces, it would make sense for Carla to call Nick to ask for help with her computer.
Why is it not possible for the writers to do their bloody homework and check out past storylines to see if this is even remotely conceivable? Why can't we have Carla get stuck in at her company, make it more international and maybe even expand it with Sarah and Alaya bringing their fashion backgrounds to the fore and allow Carla just to have close friends... be it with Michelle (ugh!) or Roy (yeah!) or have her mentor other business owners on the street as one might do in REAL life.
ReplyDeleteCarla bought a flat in Victoria Court where Nick also lives. He rents Dev's flat there.
