You can kill off one Corrie character - who would it be?

Imagine you're the Coronation Street fan who's won the best prize in the world and you get to kill off your least favourite Corrie character.  You know, the one who makes you suck your teeth when they come on screen.

Imagine you've got a list in one hand and a big, black pen in the other. With one hand you lift the list of all the current Coronation Street characters, and the other hand brings your pen down to the list to cross off the name of....

.... who? Who would YOU choose to kill off, right now?

For the purposes of this game we have to ignore those we know are already leaving - so you can't vote for Hayley Cropper (not that any of us would, I'm sure) or Tina McIntyre; Gloria Price, Sylvia Goodwin, Karl Munro, Ryan Connor, Brian Packham, Paul Kershaw and er, Tommy Duckworth.

I think you all know who I'd cross off my Corrie list, so I won't bang on. Over to you...

  1. Sulky Eileen all the way.

  2. Tracy Barlow! Failing that, Boria.

  3. Tracy, naturally. Not only because she needs her come-uppance but because the character is boring, repetitive, and played by a poor actor.

  4. Definitely Dev

  5. As Liz McDonald makes a triumphant return to the cobbles, her taxi crashes into a massive plot device, killing her instantly. And forever.

  6. The personality vacuum that it s Michelle

    ReplyDelete
  7. Oh I SO agree with Rachel above - kill off Michelle, she's DREADFUL!

If only we could be that lucky.

  9. LOL, love clinkers 21 answer! I'd have to go with Norris the horrid, petty, little creature that looks more like Gollum in specs, vest & tie every year

    ReplyDelete
  10. Got to be Norris. He is such a busy-body-want-to-know-it-all. Makes me want to throw up every time he appears on screen. No wonder his wife left him.

  11. ST.Ella the Beige of the back room - no contest.

  12. Voting for those we love to hate, i.e.: Tracey Barlow, Norris... would seem to defeat the purpose. So, on lack of acting ability, lackluster plot twists over the years and the fact that he's been around for frickin' ever, I vote for Ken Barlow.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Mary! She's sooo annoying. I like Patti Clare but hate her Mary character...

    ReplyDelete
  14. Rob Donovan, no question. Worst new character for years, just edging out the Baroness of Beige for me:(

    ReplyDelete
  15. Got to be Tracy. I would so love to see an episode without that smirk.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Tracy Barlow hands down. I can't stand the character or the actress who plays her. Terrible Terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  17. This is a no brainer - Tracy of course:)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Gail......ick pooie!!! Others who bore me stiff are Tracy, Deidre, Ken, Dev, Rob, Anna...and what happened to Tyrone???

    ReplyDelete
  19. Fayeeeeeeeeeee!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Maria she is worse actress ever

    ReplyDelete
  21. There's something about Dennis that I find really irritating. Oh, Tim too.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Stella the beige bore followed closely by wooden Rob

    ReplyDelete
  23. Sean. Most over rated character. FACT- Micky

  24. Tracy! If I could kill two birds with one stone, Tracy and Rob. Pointless, nasty, cartoonish, just plain awful, the pair of them.

If I could give a life back, it would go to Brian, an under-appreciated delight who I wish could stick around a bit longer.

Though I don't agree, I think that's one of the funniest plot lines I've read in a while! I like Liz.

As for dumping: Tray-cee goes to Australia as a convict. For life, no parole. Tim the Creep. he gets dumped by Sally, leaves and gets a job on a detective series where he belongs. And though Dev is annoying and poorly acted mostly, I still enjoy him there at times, protecting his children. Anyway, he has to find out about Krazy Karl & the fire.

  26. Soooo many to choose from. But I think.....

    GARY WINDASS

He drains the life from the screen every time he enters a scene. Negative and boring

    ReplyDelete
  27. David Platt. He's just too creepy.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Unless he had a visit from the Acting Fairy it would have to be Dev!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I have to go with St Ella of the Back Room. Her screeching, nails on a chalk board voice would cause all the glasses and bottles behind the bar to shatter and sadly her and Tracy Barlow, who happened to be standing at the bar, would be badly cut and die of their wounds.

  30. Judging from all these reactions, it would seem to be quicker to list who we'd like to stay! What puzzles me is, with so many characters so many of us can't stand, why do we continue to watch? I suspect this show is a release, where we can project people in our own lives onto characters on the show, then vent our annoyance and frustration safely and indirectly, rather than murdering our friends and relatives!

  31. I've always found Sally Webster so irritating. She exists only to irritate and she's outlived her usefulness. But there's so many... frankly, at this point, I wouldn't be too chuffed if anyone left the show.

  32. Sadly, I have far too many on my list. But, first on my list would be:

    Rob.

Self-styled Warren Buffet and major under-achiever. Failure at everything he touches. I'm not caught up on my youtube episodes of Corrie, but to-date he and Tracy have spent about ten minutes at the location of their new venture.

  33. Game of Thrones Them!!22 August 2013 at 07:00

Chesney!! Then hopefully Katy would kill herself and we'd be done with the whole mess! In fact, if Izzy and Gary had kept their socks on, they could've waited to adopt Joseph! Although I admit that I'd actually LOVE to see a Corrie episode done a la Game of Thrones (Red Wedding). Let the carnage begin.

  34. Tracy, ummm.. Dev, oh - one? Oh - Eileen..... no - how about Gary .... um - er - David ... - OH - I know! Gail!! And then there's Rob, Maria, Tim/Faye/Sally/Jenna/Sophie - OFF WITH THEIR NASTY HEADS!

  35. Frosty the Snowman22 August 2013 at 07:58

For Frosty it has to be Eileen. Been in it long enough now an exhausted and getting pointless character. A rather unattractive sour bitter middle aged woman that lurches from failed romance to failed romance. Had enough now of this repetition, she needs to go. Her face turns the milk in Frosty's tea sour.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Tracy Barlow. I don't like the sneering cow how she lurches from one insult to another without any reason and just gets off with it. She is long overdue a comeuppance.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Owen. He is such a bully, it makes me ill.

    ReplyDelete
  38. It's worked already - the wicked witch of E20 is leaving!

My personal choice though is Dev - his "acting" and the choices he makes when doing so are jaw-droppingly inept, and the corner shop, once as equally important as T'Rovers, is barely used.

I know old-fashioned corner shops are practically extinct, but it is nonetheless an excellent place for the brief interaction of characters, disseminating news and gossip to each other. I'd like to see a fairly snobby woman buy the shop, convinced that customers will appreciate the more personal service of a traditional corner shop. Sylvia would have been an excellent choice had it not been for Staphnie Coles' ongoing health issues.

  39. Whoever said Gary Windass needs their eyes testing. He makes me go weak every time he is on the screen!- Micky

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sean. Leaves a gap for a decent gay character.

    ReplyDelete
  41. stella! all you see is beige beige beige..... and you get my drift!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Please let me have a double of Sean and Tracey.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Only one? Damn,I have 2!

    Tracy and Carla

Tracy because she's pointless, past her sell by date and played by an extremely bad actor. She's so bad,I cringe when she's on screen

And Carla because I cannot stand her with Peter. Why can't she piss off to LA again FOR GOOD and let Peter and Leanne get back together and be happy again?(Leanne is my fave character btw)

So I'd kill both of them characters off!

    ReplyDelete
  44. You realise that all St Ella guesses don't count now she's leaving, don't you? ;)

If I had to kill off a character... it would be Tracy. Because good lord that girl deserves to be murdered.

(It would also give Anne Kirkbride some long overdue material to show off her acting chops)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sophie....no
    Gary.....no
    Norris.....no
    Eileen....oh I can't decide, any of these.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Now my wish has been granted, the top of my hit list has to be Rancid Rob

    ReplyDelete
  47. Tracy for sure, I never liked the character because it has no depth. She is just mean all the time and that gets boring. Also Kate Ford is a terrible actress, I don't know why they brought her back.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Tracy Barlow. No question.
    Rebecca in TO..

    ReplyDelete
  49. Can I be greedy and pick two! Gail and David! Gail's character has turned into a complete simpleton who just lives her life through her kids. David is annoying little weasel

    ReplyDelete
  50. TOXIC TRACY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Tough to make a choice but when you say "suck your teeth when they come on screen" - David Platt hands down.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Tracy, I don't love to hate her. I just hate her. Jenna also wouldn't be missed. Yawn

    ReplyDelete
  53. My first thought was Tracy, no hesitation about that one.

    ReplyDelete
  54. GAIL! GAIL! GAIL!
Gail has become a village idiot, simpleton just does not cut it. For years we have had to put up with her blinking non stop in every scene, plus the nauseating flirting she does with men. She thinks she is some hot looking bombshell, when in reality, with that awful bowl haircut and the non existant chin, she looks more like a turtle.
But the acting like a bratty five year old, and the dumb as a stump act, makes Gail a candidate for a quick shove inthe canal

    ReplyDelete
  55. Tracy...or David. Naw, Tracy wins. Incredibly Carla has grown on me a little since returning.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Rob, who draws out every word as if it is his last breath - or should be.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Jenna? Rob? Jenna? Rob? - can I pick two please?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Michelle and Eileen- they can hook up and do a Thelma and Louise. Both drawn together by their many years of dealing with Steve! lol
Seriously....all they do is moan and act petty. Time to go.

    ReplyDelete
  59. 1.guilty of murder Tracy
    2.David guilty of everything
    3. Gloria, too miserable for words
4.Norris, or sweeten him up a bit
    5. Anna, started nasty, returning to Nasty, take FAY with her...

    ReplyDelete
  60. Tracy Barlow, then maybe they can finally do something good with Rob

    ReplyDelete
  61. SARAH LOU KIDGER22 October 2013 at 11:05

IF I CHOOSE FOUR CHARACTERS TO BE KILLED OFF IT WOULD BE ROY RITA NORRIS AND LEANNE NICK DESERVES BETTER NICK SHOULD OF MARRIED KYLIE IT WOULD MAKE SENSE BECAUSE NICK IS ACTUALLY LILLYS BIOLOGICAL DAD PLEASE DONT KILL OF TINA STELLA EVA CARLA SIMON PETER AND MARIA BECAUSE THEY ALL OF MY FAVOURITE CHARACTERS I HAVE MET CHRIS GASCOYNE IN REAL LIFE HE IS SUCH A LOVELY BLOKE BUT HE IS MARRIED TO SOMEONE

    ReplyDelete
  62. Tracy, send her back to jail and throw away the key, no visitors allowed, therefore no more screen time
then Sophie and Jenna, they are not compatible

    ReplyDelete
  63. Todd, he a slimy little piece of work. Wouldn't miss him what so ever.
