She decides to sell the pub because it holds too many negative memories after the fire and Sunita's death. And when a mystery buyer puts in an offer to buy it from her, she has no idea it’s Steve.

Hurrahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
ReplyDeleteBest news I've heard since... St.Ella bought the pub. Hopefully this signals the beginning of the end for this unpopular character.
She can take useless Karl and her other dimwitted daughter too. Good riddance!!! Wish the storyline at least ends with Karl being caught, once and for all!!!
ReplyDeleteBest news I have heard in a long time !!!
ReplyDeleteI expect Stella and Eva will stick around - perhaps they'll buy number 13? Remember, they're the only family Leanne's got right now.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't heard that St Ella is on the way out - but we can only hope! After all, no-one knew that Mandy was going until a few days before her last episode aired. Maybe St Ella IS leaving, and they're keeping it under wraps as they don't want to acknowledge what a disastrous flop this high-profile character has been? I'm hoping so anyway!!:)
ReplyDeleteYep, ace news. Agree with everyone, except the bit about Eva. She can stay - I think there's plenty of scope for some comedy gold if she embarks on a relationship with Jason as was reported elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteGreat news! I'm so glad that Liz will be back where she belongs.
ReplyDeleteCould this be the beginning of the end for St Ella, I wonder? I hope so, and I agree, Holby City would be ideal ;)
Great! Always loved Liz behind the bar or as landlady. Have missed her, and now she'll be able to pick up her relationship with the increasingly hilarious Deirdre again. Love the relationship between Steve and Liz too.
ReplyDeleteI won't miss Stella at all if she leaves, but I too would like Eva to stay. I think Catherine T. plays the part brilliantly and there is a lot of scope for her character, particularly in her relationship with Leanne. - NN
Yay from me too! I've missed Liz! I heard that rumour about the For Sale sign on the pub and i thought straight away maybe Steve would buy it back and put Liz in, knowing she was coming back too. All will be right with the world!
ReplyDeleteI'll be reallllly happy to say goodbye to the Beige Lady. But I think I'm the only one who isn't that keen on Liz making a comeback. Unless she returns as a more dignified woman of her age and isn't trying to look like some young thing. She only succeeds in making herself look like an aging hooker.

Best thing to happen to Corrie! Stella will surely leave the Street as that, too, will have bad memories. MC is contracted till April 2014 so maybe Stella leaves next summer. That only leaves Eva and she could stay if her relationship with Jason becomes permanent. I'm glad they're bringing Liz back and not trying another new character.
ReplyDeleteYes!! Back where they belong! I don't mind Stella at all. The writers make the same mistake over and over - introduce a new character, they come on like gangbusters leaving the viewers disliking them (Stella, Mandy, the new Ryan). Slow and easy is better than fast and hard - IMO anyway.
ReplyDeleteI am elated that Liz will be back behind the pumps, I think it's great.
ReplyDeleteWon't miss ST Ella at all if she leaves, the character has never made her mark. But would like Eva to stay, I like her.
Oh and PS, I would love Jim to come back too, so I would!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes! Liz back where she belongs, she has been sorely missed. Love her with Deirdre and Steve and she can sort Michelle out, don't think she goes with Steve, he needs someone with a bit more oomph, can I hold my breath and wish for Karen coming back?
ReplyDeleteIt's not the writers who make the decisions to shove new characters down our throats, it's the producers. They make the decisions and the writers take them and write the scripts. Don't blame the writers - they're as helpless as the fans are.
ReplyDeleteDoes Owen still own part of the pub tho? Or did Gloria's help avoid that?
ReplyDeleteRe the chances of Karen coming back - only after the porcine airways sets up in business. Suranne Jones is fully fledged from the Corrie nest now and gets huge plaudits for everything she does (as you might expect). Suspect she'll be busy with Bott & Scaly for some time to come and then on to even bigger things. I miss her as Karen too - one of my all-time fave characters - but I doubt you'll see her treading the cobbles again.
ReplyDeleteSeriously would you want your local pub to be run by someone who looks like a two-bit hooker, I wouldn't.
ReplyDeleteIf nothing else Stella at least dressed and acted her age.
Well, Bet has just been voted the nation's all time favourite landlady and she looks like a tranny two-bit hooker, so maybe the answer is - Yes!
ReplyDelete"Seriously would you want your local pub to be run by someone who looks like a two-bit hooker"
ReplyDeleteLots of them are!
And I too hope they keep Eva on, as she has developed into a great Corrie character, both bitchy and vulnerable.
Just because MC's contract runs till April 2014 does not mean she will be kept on screen till that time. I think they can only sign up actors in one-year increments therefore they renewed her contract in April 2013 to keep her around for the hand-over scenes.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would mind Stella as a character staying on if they toned her down a bit but am glad she will no longer be the landlady. That being said I don't know if it's a backwards move moving Liz back into the pub unless they give her more to do than shacking up with man after man, we'll have to wait and see- Micky
ReplyDeleteIt will be very interesting to see Liz back and I am glad that Steve will own the pub again and I hope that Michelle falls for someone else because the two of them - well there's not much there is there? And I hope that Liz is not dressed like a hooker - that time has passed.
ReplyDeleteVery glad to hear this, but just hope it doesn't turn out like Bet Lynch's ill fated return. The phrase 'never go back' springs to mind.

Liz + Deirdre + Steve = Corrie gold. Will happily wave goodbye to Stella, but would really miss Eva and think she's a keeper.

You can bet St Ella will be hanging around like a bad smell until her contract runs out, then hopefully she will do the decent thing and resign. The character just has not worked and she is STILL WEARING BEIGE!
ReplyDeleteYes, and thrice yes, this is excellent news. Love, love, love, Liz and Steve. Just the news that the Queen of beige has ordered a taxi would make my day complete...
ReplyDeleteI think they need new blood. The Stella role seems to stumble from crisis to crisis, instead of evolving. The show doesn't need another bimbo a la Eva. As for having the character Liz back as landlady BIG MISTAKE, HUGE.

ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Liz's return and being behind the bar at the Rovers. Just where does Steve manage to get money at any given moment? Next step is to break up Michelle and Steve - never worked. She should check when Kieran will be in port again and sail on out of Weatherfield.
ReplyDeletedoes anyone know were i can buy the shoes liz mc donald had on when she stepped out off the taxi on her return episode 14/10/13 they so lovely i want some...
