There's a bit of gossip in today's Mirror that says Coronation Street actors Antony Cotton and Charlie Condou (Sean and Marcus) have fallen out in real life and only speak to each other when they have to.
Anyone know if this is true?
Anyone know if this is true?
The Mirror quotes our not always reliable mate Corrie Sauce: "It is an open secret that Antony and Charlie do not see eye to eye. There is a real divide throughout the cast and crew, with some people Team Condou and a few Team Cotton. They are both very different people and whereas Antony is quite showbizzy, Charlie is quite quiet and down to earth. They simply rub each other up the wrong way.”
Last night a Coronation Street spokesman said: “On set they have a great, professional relationship.”

It wouldn't surprise me they have complete different personalities.
ReplyDeleteCharlie Condou always seems really nice.
ReplyDeleteooopsy! I posted my comment in the wrong thread.
ReplyDeleteIf Antony behaves the way Sean behaves on-screen, I can certainly understand if Charlie didn't have the patience to deal with him.
Male or female - drama queens are realllly draining.

I've seen a lot of people speculating this before, as they don't follow each other on Twitter or ever speak to each other but yet do with plenty of other Corrie castmates.
ReplyDeleteWell if Mr Cotton is anythng like he showed himself to be in the Jungle then no wonder he is difficult to get along with. Came across as a horrible man.
ReplyDeleteSome people live in showbiz-land, tweeting their every fart and glass of champagne (and always in the company of another celeb)...
ReplyDeleteSome people are actors.
Charlie seems like a down to Earth guy, I wouldn't be surprised if Antony got on his nerves.
ReplyDeleteI wish TPTB would move Sean, and therefore Antony, on out of weatherfield. He is a thoroughly unlikable character and a shadow of the promising comedy character he started oiut as years ago. His time is up in my opinion!- Micky
ReplyDeleteThey've got a vile back stabbing bitch in Tracy they don't need Sean as well the sooner they get rid of him the better.
ReplyDeleteAlthough getting rid of both of them would be even better.
Sean is younger version of Norris. A background wind up doll with no meaningful story lines. I think he is fine as that. They seem to give meatier stories to those who can act and Charlie Condou has proved that he can. With a cast this large it is natural that there will be cliques. Just because both actors are gay does not mean they have be in each other's pockets.

ReplyDeleteI guess Corrie is like any workplace, not everyone is going to get on and personalities are bound to clash. Not really anyone's business though, one way or another :)
It wouldn't surprise me if they clashed but I bet they are thrilled to not be an on-screen couple anymore!! I'm also glad, as I can't stand watching Antony Cotton.
ReplyDeleteI follow both Antony and Charlie on twitter and it is very common for all of the corrie cast to communicate to each other via tweets. But Antony and Charlie have never ever commented on each others tweets. Not even a congratulations when Charlie won an award recently or not a merry xmas or happy birthday. That in itself speaks volumes.
ReplyDeleteAlso when Antony was in "I'm a celebrity get me out of here" Actor John Thomson who played Jessie the clown (Eileens boyfriend) tweeted "Antony you nasty piece of work... trouble with a capital T..you miserable old fadge"
