Should Sean and Marcus get back together - Yay or Nay?

I'm thinking that Coronation Street have seperated Sean and Marcus in order to get them back together in a hugely romantic episode where Marcus proposes, Sean accepts and Eileen gets to play flower-girl wearing a fascinator the size of a Sky TV dish.

And Marcus's mum could turn up for the wedding, too!

But that's just what I think. What do you think? Should Marcus and Sean get back together? What do you reckon, Corrie fans?

  1. I like them together, one's a ditz and the other is the brains of the outfit...lots of relationships are like that, opposites attract and everything.

I hope Sean takes a good long hard look at Marcus revelling in the family environment that is Maria and Liam and makes the very adult decision that that is the road that he'd be willing to take for the love of his life Marcus.

But then it's soap land...so who knows!

  2. Me too Kim

I have spent the entire weekend defending Sean like I was his mother or something! Perhaps there is a lot of Eileen in me...

The sad thing is they love each other, a bit of give and take and I am sure they can work it out. Was half prepared on Friday that it really was irretrievable until Monday and Marcus handing Sean the CD of their photos and then it hit me. That for me was the defining moment in the break up. God heartbreaking.

They really do love each other.

It could go many ways, Maria to be surrogate mum for Marcus

Sean to somehow gain custody of Dylan

One of them have a mad affair with someone else and realise what they have left behind

    Or possibly all three?

They belong together and I am fed up of shouting at the TV and throwing things at that creep Aiden.

  3. Ugh, that Aiden is a vile creature, knowing full well that Marcus is a soft touch & in a relationship, he took full advantage of the fact to try and get together with him. Nasty begger!!

  4. It seems very odd that a couple (straight or gay)in their mid-30's aren't living in their own accommodation. It limits their character development and they aren't really a proper couple in my opinion. At the moment, Eileen is their surrogate mum or big sister. Take her out of the picture and how would they cope with running a household - and that's without a child to care for. It's worth them getting back together to see how it goes. One of the priorities must be to get a flat on their own. Sean would mature and Marcus might be prepared to wait for his partner to catch up.

  5. I have to disagree. Sean is an immature, whiney, dithering twit and Marcus is well...all the wonderful adjectives you could think of. Superior acting on Markus' part leaves Sean in the dust. Better apart...I wouldn't be sad to see Sean leave the street. What is with Aiden's top lip/mouth....and there seemed to be so many close-ups of his face....ooooooh

  6. Humpty, it's amazing how soon men can adapt to living without mum or a surrogate such as Eileen, we could pick holes in their situation (in fact why does the entire street spend their life in the pub or sew knickers for a living) but it's done to spark off incident (close confines making for more tension). It is a drama after all, and not supposed to reflect real life completely.

I think Sean and Marcus would be just fine in a flat on their own, even with this magical child which would make them whole - if that is what it takes.

Sean is Sean and Marcus loves him for it, we may not, but we are not in love with him, are we? Marcus is.

I make no bones about it, Sean is one of my favourite characters, he needs unflappable care and attention and he found that in Marcus, if he can just curb that insecurity, but hey, no one is perfect! Marcus left him before, and he's not forgotten it, obviously.

Certainly don't want him to leave, Becky leaving was bad enough! Couldn't take Sean as well. Nor Marcus come to that. Hope Aiden is on a short contract (she thinks bitchily).

  7. Marcus could do much better than Sean. Sean is too clingy and whiny!

Imagine a guy married to a chick like that?! He'd kill her or leave her.

And yes, I agree - Aiden is VERY creepy.

  8. I didn't realize how much I loved them together until their heartbreaking break up... they just balance each other out.

So yay, get them back together. Sean should become jealous of a Maria/Marcus/Liam family unit and propose to Marcus and tell him he's finally realized he wants all the same things Marcus does and he cannot possibly live without him in a completely over dramatic way that only Sean would contrive!

But as someone else mentioned, this is soap land... so anything could happen!

  9. It would be great if Sean and Marcus get back together. Recently a gay couple I know split after 20 years and it is gut-wrenching to hear the story. At this point it would take a miracle for the two to reunite. They were like Sean-Marcus in that they complimented each other. One liked to cook and the other gardened. It is always sad to see a split regardless of their orientation.

Yay! Of course they should get back together, no doubt about it.

  11. Hell Nay!! I sure don't want Marcus to leave and Aiden is creepy like nobody's business but unless Sean grows up and starts realizing there are other people in the world and how awesome Marcus is, he doesn't deserve to be with the "love of his life". I've never seen anyone treat someone so poorly and then have the nerve to call them the love of their life!!

NAY! Sean is a self centred arm folding attention seeking megha childish drama queen. He certainly does not deserve the lovely Marcus but unfortunately as Cotton will never leave the cushy number he has in the Street, I also think this "break up" is the prerequisite to them getting back together and having a civil ceremony, Marcus DONT!!!

  13. No way...the less of Antony C on screen the better. He doesn't change character at all...he's the same in real life!
But..seeing as how Phil C is one of his bessy-mates, they'll shove them back together so we can all look forward to more cozy morning chats in Eileen's crowded house.
    Where's Jason?

  14. Nay - only because I'd like to see Marcus develop as his own character than forever standing in Sean's shadow.

  15. A resounding Nay. I've been wanting them to split for ages. Charlie Condou is so much better an actor than Anthony Cotton and having them shackled together inhibits Marcus' character development. I've never found them believeably as a couple; a 2-dimensional stereotype like Sean would be very unlikely to attract a guy like Marcus in real life. Sean's fine in a Greek Chorus role but as an actor lacks the emotional range to carry stories like this (although in fairness he did raise his game in the actual break-up scene - but it was somewhat undermined by his channelling of Bet Lynch in the preceding hospital scene, hand on hip et al)
