Favourite Corrie characters countdown - second poll

Now, I hope you've voted for two favourite Coronation Street characters in the blog's first poll of ten last week and thank you for doing so. There are over 300 votes already! And just to make it clear - you can vote for two characters every week in all polls (i.e. if you like both Hilda and Mavis in last week's poll then you could vote for both of them). The first poll will close at midnight next Tuesday.

So in all you can actually vote for twenty characters. Then I will calculate the number of votes for every character and then I will do a countdown of 60 characters - not in one post, mind you. I do hope you have favourites in the first poll and so on to the second batch.

Mike Baldwin - A Cockney factory tycoon who produced denim and underwear for 30 years. He employed many of the Street's residents over the years and was thrice married, most popularly to Alma. Best known for his affair with Deirdre and a long running feud with Ken.

Minnie Caldwell - A timid pensioner who was part of the snug trio with Ena and Martha. Best known for having a cat called Bobby, her hobby of having a flutter on the horses and taking in waifs and strays.

Ray Langton - One of the hunks of the 70s. He was a plumber and joined forces with Len and Jerry. He married Deirdre in 1975 and daughter Tracy was born in 1977. Ray left for Holland in 1978 but returned in 2005 a dying man and died at Deirdre and Ken's second wedding reception.

Liz McDonald - A Rovers barmaid and landlady. Wife of Jim and mother of twins Andy and Steve. Known for her frizzy hair and her friendship with Deirdre.

Richard Hillman - A suave financial adviser by day and a psychopath by night. He married Gail and tried to kill Audrey and Emily and managed to kill his ex Patricia, Maxine and left Duggie for dead. When he confessed, he drove the Platt family into the canal and he was the only one that perished.

Ena Sharples - The original Corrie and soap battleaxe, a harridan in a hairnet. Best known for her sharp tongue, her Biblical references in dialogue, her love of milk stout, sitting in the snug with Minnie and Martha and her catfights with Elsie.

I think it'll be an interesting contest between these six as well! So, vote, vote, vote and check in next week for the next batch of six. And remember that a vote for your favourite could mean they could win the top spot in the countdown!
