Corrie weekly awards: Sept. 26 - 30

How the Mighty Have Fallen award (1): Carla really has reached rock bottom. Gotta hand it to Alison King, looking like hell, no makeup.
How the Mighty Have Fallen award (2): It's going to be a long way down to the cobbles from atop Leanne's high horse.

Mixed signals award: Gold Star: Peter knows how Carla feels about him and how Leanne feels about the whole thing, why does he keep sniffing around her? No wonder she can't get over him, and Leanne knows it.

Smooth Operator award: Slick star: Frank really knows how to push buttons, even with no evidence, he knows just what to say to get Leanne going.

Mug award: Gold Star: Sally's had a reality check from Pam.
Silver Star: Steve for that remark of Tracy's "If your dad can't see it, he doesn't deserve a mug!"

Devious award: Gold Star: Sally's right. Kevin does have a selfish, devious streak. But she's still a mug.

Suck up award: Gold Star: Tracy's really working hard to get Steve on her side.

Laundry Fail award: Dirty Star: Kevin, you could wash your clothes before going out in public.

Lines of the Week:
Carla's mantra "I'm alive, I'm breathin', I'm makin' him pay"
Sunita "If you're determined to squander our money, you squander it equally"
Frank "Your husband. My ex-fiance. They're at it like knives"
Amber to Dev "You couldn't motivate Johnny Vegas into a pie shop"
Owen "I build walls. And not just for a living"
Kevin "What she don't know, she can't grieve over" (and she nearly had to)
Kirk "You can be very deep sometimes, Hayley, it makes my head ache"
Sophie to Rosie "Stick your head in the oven not the fridge, it's quicker"

Totally Inappropriate behaviour award: Firstly we had Peter creepily stroking Carla while she lay in his arms in her flat, then we have him addressing her as “sweetheart” in front of his wife, who looked devastated. I detest this story and its making me despise Peter.

Conniving behaviour award: If Carla really had any intention of killing herself, she wouldn’t have phoned Peter and Leanne “to say goodbye” its all part of her plan to get them to come a running again and to catch him in her funnel web. It doesn’t matter how much she moons around wallowing in it with her makeup less face, I just cannot get any empathy for this Cruella de Ville character and I think its time the powers that be stop trying to make her into a sympathetic character, it’s not working. Now Maria whose husband she was also having an affair with and was indirectly responsible for his death is also fawning around her. Unbelievable.

Argumentative granite faced little cow award: Now I don’t like Tracy and she is another conniving one but did Tina have to start a row with her as well. Why are they making Tina into such a dislikeable sour faced little shrew, it seems they have nothing to do with the character except make her make enemies of everyone; it’s a pity and a waste.

Another shrieking old harridan award: I used to like Auntie Pam but why has she been brought back out of the blue when most of us have forgotten her. I know she has issues with Kevin and you can’t blame her but that embarrassing and out of place tirade in the Kabin and then in the hospital waiting room was totally unacceptable and was more conducive to Bill’s heart attack than anything Kevin had done. Like Theresa she is a character that was popular but disappeared and then brought back but has lost momentum.

The Grey Matter Award: So sick sick sick of Chris “I have a brain tumour” along with the gormless son whose headmaster has not seemed to notice he wears a birds nest on his head. Who gives a flying fig?. The sooner they go the better without drawing this story out which nobody seems to care about.

Silliest lines award: Now we all know Bev Callard isn’t coming back so why all this silly business about Liz supposed visit and then conveniently “not being able to make it”. Completely daft and unnecessary.

  2. Re: Frosty's comments ... and I thought I was negative about the street!! Except, I mostly agree with everything you say. Carla is a deeply unsympathetic person who, if she had an ounce of honour, would confess to the police herself rather than make Leanne the baddie. They could keep Peter's name out of it and a top dollar solicitor would soon get her off the hook.

The Cheryl/Chris story - who is remotely bothered about what happens to them? Please, let them go quickly.

I am not particularly a fan of Auntie Pam but I like Sally and their confrontation was very interesting.

Ciaran needs to come back pdq to give Peter a kick and knock some sense into him.

The only nice people on the street at the moment are Roy and Hayley and Emily. Naturally, that means they don't have a lead story line.

  3. Well I loved Pam this week and think it was what the street needed - and especially Kevin. She gave Sally the strength to do what she should have done herself.

    I think quote of the week can only be Pam to Kevin;

"You are a selfish, nasty and pathetic little man and if anyone should have a heart attack and die - it should be you".

Great scriptwriting - please let's have more of this.

  5. Frosty, I enjoyed your summary, and agreed with it, especially about Peter and Carla.
I must be in the minority, but I never particularly liked 'Auntie Pam' she was obviously a character of convenience, and I'm sorry, but the venomous way she spat at Keven in front of a stricken Bill, was just not on, and he wants to marry her?
I don't care about the Cheryl/Chris/Russ characters either, amazing how a seriously ill character can still be devious enough to get back what he's always wanted.
He's welcome to her, ta ra...

Tina is a witch, biding her time till the next story line that's all about her.
Even when she does "sorry'as to Rita, she's not convincing enough.

  6. I don't think Kevin is selfish. He let Sally keep the house, decided to give her £100,000 pounds (nearly gave her all his winnings). Has tried his best to make up and take care of Jack. Its none of Pam's business what goes on now, and stop blaming Kevin for everything, just because Molly is dead doesn't make her wonderful and innocent. The reason she was killed in the crash because she left Tyrone that night, its not like Kevin pushed her in front of the tram.

Not trying to say what Kevin did was right, but Pam has no business sticking her nose in.

  7. Worst dialogue of the week:

Maria (to David): I can't really see you as a parent

David: Take a look in the mirror

Maria: Are you saying I'm a bad mother?

    David: No

Who writes this stuff? The Year 3 Creative Writing class? No-one talks like that. Time was there would have been an interesting comment about being a parent, not this drivel.

  8. Carla is the most unsympathetic character on the show. I would feel more sympathy for Tracy Barlow and that is saying something!
I applauded when Leanne told Carla what she thought of her.
Back to Carla! Same old tricks...wanting someone else's man. This time it drove her man to be a rapist instead of a serial killer. Shame on writers if they allow Carla to get away scotfree for drunk driving....I wonder what MADD would have to say about it?

  9. It is about time Kev be shown in a dirty shirt. He and Tyrone are too clean for mechanics!
