Catherine Tyldesley signs new six month contract

According to the Sunday Mirror, Catherine Tyldesley, who plays Eva Price has been handed a new six month contract.

The paper reports that Catherine's time on Corrie was extended after Coronation Street bosses were impressed with her performances since she appeared on the cobbles in June.

One of the storylines the Mirror claims Eva will be involved with in the future is an "explosive" new romance, possibly with Peter Barlow.

We've spoken about Eva's future before on this blog, but it remains to be seen whether our opinion of her will change now she's going to be around a while longer.

  1. Peter Barlow? Surely that's the tabloids just throwing that out there. A fling with Carla could be inevitable but with Eva? Leanne's sister? that will be the utter ruination of Peter Barlow if the current storyline and possible future doesn't do him in before then.

  2. Next they'll be showing "Peter" out the door, this better be just tabloid talk!

  3. Yay...hope this story is true. He gets the boot from Leanne and Carla also tells him to leg it so...being the dog that he is, it's probably going to happen!

  4. Bloody hell, are there any bad/pointless characters that they plan to get rid of??

  5. Oh gawd ... what in hell would be the attraction for Peter?? Eva is a spoiled little bitch. C'mon!!
Hope it's just a dumb rumour.

  6. Like the commenters above, I'm hoping the 'possibly Peter Barlow' part of that article is a guess or wishful thinking, rather than an actual spoiler. Throwing Peter into bed with Eva would be character assassination at this point, undoing all the development he's gone through over the past few years. If he hasn't slept with Carla, after everything, why on earth would he jump into bed with Eva?

I'd like to think this is as wildly inaccurate as the 'spoiler' that said Eva was going to be a lesbian! I'd also read that she was going to have a fling with Nick - maybe that's where this has come from, someone heard that Eva would upset Leanne by having a fling with someone close to her, and it got distorted along the way?

Why have they renewed the contract of this superflous and spiteful character? If this is not tabloid fodder and she does in fact have an affair with Peter Barlow her brother in law, then Peter may as well hit the bottle again and none of us will care and a great character played by a great actor will be totally ruined by Phil "done good" Collinson.

  8. Normally I'm happy when I see a new contract has been given out. But I'm not feeling for Eva at all. I wouldn't miss her at all if she went.

  9. Agree with all that's been said.

Eva? I can take her or leave her tbh. But *yawn* to the 'explosive' storyline/romance.

And surely to goodness TPTB have at least a fragment of the common sense they were born with and leave Peter alone with Leanne.

  10. Maybe Eva would be best looking outside the street for a love interest, there's too much recycling on C.S.
Failing that, I agree with Llywela; get Leanne going by Eva having an affair with Nick.
If Peter has no problems upsetting his wife by drooling over Carla, why shouldn't Leanne not have moved on about Nick?

  11. I think she's a great actress and whatever they have in store for her she is a good addition to the young cast
