After Stella was run down by Carla in Corrie, Radio Times writer and Corrie fan David Brown has written a wonderful piece about Coronation Street's best smash-ups, with YouTubes of them all.
Have a look at them all here.
How many can you remember?
I remember all but the train crash of '67.
ReplyDeleteOf the earlier ones, the crash with Renee and Alf I remember actually made me feel 'sick' after seeing it on screen; really affected me.
It had all the right elements leading up to it; Renee's excitement, Alf's growing frustration, the speed of the lorry driver.
The crash wasn't unexpected, but it was well done, very tragic and memorable.
The tram crash of 2010, was highly suspenseful and exciting, and a tear jerker too.
How much Corrie's presentation has changed over the many decades...
Ah, what trip down memory lane! I remember most of these too. While watching them back, I was most struck by the wonderful naturalistic acting style of Bryan Mosley (Alf Roberts). And overall there was a greater feeling of just peeking in at what was going on.
ReplyDeleteYes, memory lane indeed. Thanks for the heads up. The vid even works outside the UK. I guess cause they're Youtubes.
ReplyDeleteDavid sure looks young there. Seems not that long ago!
