Bruce had hoped to spill the beans to 200 people on his 10 years on the cobbles. But no tickets for the event at the Chilton Country Pub near Chester-le-Street, County Durham, were sold. And only one person made a phone enquiry about the £18.50 gig, that included a meal.
A spokeswoman said: “It had to be cancelled. We are not sure why tickets did not sell. We are normally fully booked.”

ReplyDeleteWhy would anyone pay to hear Bruce talk publicly about his life in a programme he got sacked for talking publicly about. I do feel a little sorry for him but can't say I'm surprised.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for him as well, he is reputedly supposed to be a very nice bloke but with a self destruct button. He hasnt been in Corrie for years so I doubt whether his "spilling the beans" would have revealed anything, probably just rambling. Its a shame.

And I can't feel sorry for someone who quite happily bit the hand that fed him and then still want to make money out of it.
If it'd had been fairly local I would definitely have attended. I loved Les's character!

ReplyDeleteI'm with those who reserve judgment on the man. All we know is the persona he played on Corrie and some news reports of his domestic troubles. None of us actually know the man. It doesn't matter. I'm with Sea Penguin I take no joy in learning of anyone who's down on their luck. All of us have our flaws and our problems and if he was less than a model employee, perhaps ITV is a less than perfect employer as well. As for his live show talking about Corrie -- there are plenty of actors and actresses who go on the live show circuit to talk about their past experiences in the business and some manage to sell out and others don't. I don't blame the man for trying to make a living and stay in the business he knows best.
ReplyDeleteBruce found one of the Yorkshire Ripper's victims. I think it affected him greatly and may continue to affect him. Let's not judge people until we know them.
ReplyDeleteHe was very lucky to have lasted for so long playing himself in Coronation Street. I'm not surprised he hasn't acted at all since he was fired.

ReplyDeleteKen Loach certainly made a huge mistake hiring his plumber instead of a real actor. I'm glad Bruce Jones lost his house and owes the bank £100,000.
ReplyDeleteReally? So big a mistake that it won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. You're obviously a better judge than Mr Loach. I mean he hasn't much of a track record in film-making has he? Anyone who rejoices in another's downfall needs to ask what is lacking in their own lives that makes them so bitter.
