Meet Corrie's new Chinese girl, Xin

Here's the first pictures of Elizabeth Tan in her role as Xin, Tina McIntyre's waitress friend. Her first scenes were filmed in Chinatown in Manchester according to The Sun - which I look forward to, because I love seeing Coronation Street filming on location.

There have also been whispers about Corrie bringing in the rest of Xin's family, to run Prima Donner, which I hope is true, but I won't believe it until it is confirmed.

We need more ethnic families brought in to Corrie. Where are the Muslims, black and Asian people?. Apart from Dev and Sunita there aren't any which is not a true reflection of life in Manchester in 2011. Instead of promoting his own gay issues Phil Collinson should take this on board.

  2. No, we need entertainment - not social engineering. Read what Harry Kershaw had to say on the subject in Sean Egan's book (as related by John Finch). Still relevant today.

  3. If they bring in more ethnicities, they need to bring them in slowly, and make them story related not just brought in for representation

  7. I'd rather like to see Vik Desai back, actually. Chris Bisson has matured as an actor and it would be interesting to see him as an slightly older Vikram interacting with his old best mate, Steve. A damn sight more interesting than his ridiculous cousin, Devendra, whom frankly he can act out of a rubber - ...(well, I'm, going no further, but anyone who has seen the pair of them in 'East is East' can fill in the rest)
And what about Nita Desai? His sister? Wasn't she packed off to Edinburgh (to manage a Betterbuys store, was it ??) She was a focused, professional young woman? How about her returning?

Must admit, I'm rather liking the idea of a regular Chinese family, so long as it's done right. Please God, not a sinese version of the ridiculous Bollytops that Dev became embroiled with a couple of years ago!

  8. Well Chris Bisson is now a member of the cast of Emmerdale as one of theSharma Brothers so he is not available.

  10. Cant stand whiny Xin'-annoying and irritating how she plays the poor victim unable to get a job in her field and has to work in a restaurant(jobs like rest of the locals)but feels entitled
