Downton Abbey's Corrie connections

Is anyone else enjoying the new ITV Sunday night drama, Downton Abbey?

Apart from the obvious and very lovely Rob James-Collier who was Liam Connor in Coronation Street and is now in Downton Abbey as Thomas the footman, there's a couple of other Corrie connections we've spotted.

Joanne Froggatt, who played Zoe Tattersall in Corrie, is playing head housemaid Anna in Downton Abbey. She's on the picture below, on the left hand side.

Siobhan Finneran, who starred in the Corrie spin-off DVD Romanian Holiday (and this fan would love to see on Corrie full-time) appears as Sarah O'Brien, the Lady's Maid. She's on the picture below, on the right hand side.

And writer Julian Fellowes is also a huge Coronation Street fan. I know we won't have spotted them all, so have you seen any more Downton Abbey / Corrie connections?

Just announced: Nigel Havers (Lewis Archer) is also joining the show.

  1. You have spotted the same ones as me, and I agree with you 100% on wishing we could get Siobhan Finneran full time, she would make a perfect Corrie character. However, she is always so busy elsewhere, I am sure she would never commit herself to anything long term.
Joanne Froggatt has also done well for herself since she left the cobbles - but I always figured she would, she's a cracking little actor.

  4. I love Downton Abbey, always sorry when it ends which is the sign of something good. Rob is great as the unpleasant and rather sinister footman and nothing at all like Liam which is a credit to him as some actors are just the same character in different roles.

  5. Siobhan remains best known for her role in the hilarious Benidorm though

  6. Can you imagine if Dame Maggie could be persuaded to do a few episodes of Corrie? I could then die contented.

  7. Wow, that would be amazing, Cobblestone! Dame Maggie just has to move an eyebrow without uttering a line and a whole story gets told.

  8. To Coronation Street Fans,

Just thought you might like to know that Joanne Froggatt, who played Zoe and also head housemaid Anna in Downtown Abbey, is starring in a new film that's out this coming Friday. It's called In Our Name, and Joanne plays Suzy, a British soldier trying to fit back into civilian life after fighting in Iraq.

    It's out December 10th!
