Watch out David Platt - Rio Ferdinand's after you

Manchester United footy player Rio Ferdinand is reported today saying he wants to be in Coronation Street so he can sort out naughty David Platt.

He tells the Sunday Mirror: "That Platt bloke is so annoying and so badly behaved. I'd love to play a distant relative and sort him out." Wouldn't we all.

Anyway, this has got me thinking. Rio Ferdinand's the latest in a long line of celebs who say they'd love to be on Corrie. Snoop Dogg, Julie Walters, Kerry Katona, Amanda Holden, Fern Britton... the list goes on - and you can vote for your favourite over on the right hand side of the blog in our latest poll.

  1. Derek Jacobi as Ted's new love interest (and reason he's been away so long). A December romance that will leave David befuddled, Gail at a loss, and Ken & Audrey at war with the green monster. Good opportunities for jabs from Dierdre, and a set of fresh eyes on Lewis. Mmmmm...

I would like to see Dara O'Brien as an uncle of Cierans that stops by and helps behind the bar for a couple of weeks.

I think Rio should concentrate on the which he is being paid very handsomely for before aspiring to be an ac-tor and sticking his oar in with our Demon!

  3. Don't you love all these Z-lebs wanting their bit of personal glory on Corrie?

No consideration of the show itself though... or that they might barely be able to string a sentence together let alone portray a character.

However, Julie Walters can join the show ANYTIME she likes. Can you imagine how incredible that would be???

Then of course there's those fabulously talented struggling actors who deserve a break ;)

  4. Snoop Dog is top of my list, followed by Derek Jacobi (why have I not thought of him before - he'd be brilliant) Julie Walters and Rio. Definite nos to Fern & Kerry, and a hmm, not sure to Amanda and Daniel. Like the Dara O Brian idea.

  5. My vote went to Julie Walters, and I see I am not alone. She would fit into Corrie like a glove.
