Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 24th November

BETSY - CARLA - LISA - CORONATION STREET - ITV

You'd think by now that Carla and Lisa would have learned not to engage in breakfast smoochies. It's like Chief Gordon putting the bat signal up above Gotham, apart from it doesn't summon Batman but Becky. This time it's because someone's sent her a wreath saying Rest In Peace - Again. She reckons it was Costello but he denies it. Batty Becky takes a picture of Costello Jnr and sends it to her ex-boss as he's having a meeting with Kit. The latter listens at the keyhole as Costello shouts at Becky down the phone.

If Becky really were in danger, then she'd have moved, n'est-ce pas? "I need it all to stop now!" she cries. JUST LEAVE THEN.

CARL - TRACY - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Carl starts messing with the bought ledger at Chariot Square in order to oust Debbie. Has anyone seen that Key and Peele sketch where two robbers get jobs in a bank to gain intel, but just end up working there, being paid and drawing a pension? Why doesn't Carl just work at the hotel? Get promoted to manager, discount on food, few free drinks? His cunning plan doesn't work as the unpaid Tracy offers to do the flowers anyway. But our Debbie agrees to take some days off and gives Carl the keys to the fortress, or at least the password for the accounts system.

Tyrone needs to get to a physio appointment and Fiz is away looking after Cilla and none of his car driving pals are available to give him a lift. Neither are any cab drivers available. Not even Fat Brenda? Cassie says she'll drive him, leaving the switch unattended. Eileen is turning in her deckchair! The first rule of working in the cab office is that we do not talk about working in the cab office. The second rule of working in the cab office is that we do not leave the switch unmanned or unwomanned. The third rule is something about biscuits, but let's not go into that now. Then we find out that Fiz is not in Birmingham, but at Chariot Square having some me time. This seems foolish given the number of Street residents usually hanging around the place, who might mention seeing her to Ty or the kids.

KEVIN - DEV - STEVE - CORONATION STREET - ITV

In the house of divorced dads, Kev is setting up a home pub with a keg of beer and a dartboard so he doesn't have to see Abeh in the pub. The point of going to the pub is to go out; I'm not sure Kev has grasped that.

And in the house of coercive control, Theo is horrible to Todd. Also, ursines relieve themselves in wooded areas, the head of the Catholic church is still a Catholic, and Becky has just turned up again to number 6, to move in this time.

Rachel Stevenson - on bluesky
