DAVID AND DAISY ARE INVOLVED IN A HIT AND RUN
Flashforward: In hospital, the medics do everything they can to save David’s life.
Shona senses David’s worries and assures him that together they’ll find a way out of their current mess. David masks his turmoil. Nick and Sarah meet with David in the pub and are concerned to see him knocking back vodka at lunchtime. Meanwhile a hungover Jenny admits to Daisy that she made a fool of herself in front of Kit. Spotting Daniel in the pub, Kit takes him to one side and suggests that he should ask Daisy for proof that the baby is actually his. Jenny squirms. Daniel confronts Daisy and demands that she swear on the baby’s life that he’s the father. Daisy dashes out of the pub. As a drunk David stumbles into the road, Shona arrives just in time to see a car hurtling towards David. Suddenly Daisy appears and the car ploughs into both David and Daisy.
Having heard the crash, Nick, Sarah, Daniel, Jenny and Kit fly out of the Rovers to find David and Daisy seriously injured. Shona tends to David but it’s clear he’s bleeding to death as Kit calls an ambulance. Jenny and Daniel rush to Daisy’s side and beg her to wake up, worried for her baby.

Well, I genuinely thought Corrie was about to pull the rug out from under us there with David's shock death. The entire episode seemed to be a eulogy to the character. But if he was going to die, he would/should have died at the end. He didn't, thereby rendering the entire episode somewhat pointless.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it was like American Beauty without the tragic ending. Strange! Why is Corrie becoming more and more like Hollywood every episode?
DeleteI didn't like the way certain scenes were directed. The camera moving around in circles made me dizzy, and the split screens too, seemed OTT. It was a dreary episode but jack p shepherd was brilliant as David, in his raw desperation. It seemed strange at the hospital with the watered down Platts - no Gail, Max or Bethany. I had a feeling that daisy would lose her baby.
ReplyDeleteDaisy grew on me, I wasn't a fan at first. Why couldn't they just send her off to have her baby in peace. They could have recast her. I know British soaps don't do that a lot but I wouldn't have minded the character sticking around.
DeleteOn a podcast with Cat Deeley, he, Jack Shepherd, said that finished his last scenes. He said that he would have liked to have reached the milestone of 25 years, but he was proud of the work he's done. Craigy Tinker will be leaving as well, he gets killed. In the line of duty I am assuming...he was with the soap for 14 years.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking that with Jenny leaving, Daisy, and a few others that there's not much point to watching anymore. I am not going to watch a pile of new characters that I don't know ...the crime and horsepucky have broken me. You win ITV you've ruined my favourite show...Back to the Classics.
