As no business owner in Weatherfield has put a lock on their door, Kirk has to stand guard at the factory door to stop Joel getting in. He manages to serve Carla with a notice starting proceedings against her anyway, for the comment she made to his client in Chariot Square the other day. The forces of womanhood are working against him though as by the end of the ep, Deedee has got the case reopened based on the evidence of Ellie, who is persuaded to make a statement by Lauren. Deedee even gets to wear a very fetching red dress as she returns to Walcott's solicitors after she finds out Ellie was the girl Joel was having an affair with and they made her sign a NDA when it was discovered. Mr Walcott says he will hand over any pertinent documentation. She bumps into Dodgy Deering and more or less tells him his chips are down, his goose is cooked, his toast is burned. Card x chest x close, Bailey!
Alina's had time to have her hair done whilst hiding out from the bad guys and she wants to go back to Romania before the highlights grow out. Tyrone has different ideas though and he nicks her passport when she isn't looking. Quite the people trafficker in training, isn't he? Fiz finds out and she has her own game plan, to get rid of Ms Pop! so she returns the passport, pretending it was in Hope's boot. Ty is going to be on the factory roof dressed as Spiderman, probably.
I have to say that I don't think we've seen enough of Ty 'n' Dorin (those pesky child labour laws) to warrant this kind of behaviour from him. Although I have to say that I laughed when he was trying to convince Fiz to take his side by asking her: "What if someone wanted to take Hope and Ruby away?" and Fiz looked a bit wistful. Also he complains that Alina didn't tell him she was pregnant but at that point, he was back with Fiz after his dalliance with Alina and skinny jeans; what did he expect? We really need Dame Maureen to knock some heads together.
Joel's not accepted his incipient downfall and Ty's failed to accept that Alina is gone but Bethany accepts that she's not going to write a heartbreaking work of staggering genius whilst drinking tap water in the pub (seriously, someone needs to requisition the community centre as a co-working space. It'll be somewhere for Swain to open her PI business when she gets the sack from the cop shop) so she accepts an offer to go to Turkey to write a puff piece about cosmetic surgery. What could go wrong?! In the meantime, she gets jealous because Daisy picks up Bertie from school and Daniel says she can pick up him up next time. Daniel is so kind letting the women in his life do his childcare for him!
Better behaviour from the McDonalds as Tracy is back off to Spain and despite hating Cassie last week, she tells Steve to go for it with Plummer Jnr. He asks her to the pub and then ruins it by saying she's taking advantage of Ken by letting him pay her to go on holiday with him. Oh, Steve.
Finally, the Living Aids people want to pick up Paul's wheelchair and voice box. Billy frets because he hasn't backed up Paul's words. I'm not sure there's much more than "mint" and "Tell mum and Kit to stop arguing" on there is there? Anyway, it seems Billy haw gone through Denial, Bargaining, Anger and Depression and is starting to accept Paul's death and he sits with his body in the funeral parlour.
Rachel Stevenson - on twitter (still).
I thought DeeDee was a bit too smug and smirky lolling about in that chair at Walcotts. Also wasn’t she blackmailing the other solicitor, so she could also get struck off if things don’t go to plan.
ReplyDeleteAlso pretty stupid of her to tell Joel she's about to take him down. It will put him on his guard again.
