Preview of tonight's Coronation Street - Friday 9 August 2024

Friday 9th August 2024

While at the cab office Cassie’s eyes widen as she sees the customer’s name on an airport booking. Taking Steve’s cab, she helps Alina into the car before driving her straight to Coronation Street to see Tyrone. Alina’s furious to realise she’s been duped.

Rowan tells Leanne that she’s been selected by Willow to run the new resource centre and he’s fixed up a meeting with a potential investor. Rowan introduces Leanne to Grant and leaves her to deliver her sales pitch.

With Dylan’s fear of Mason evident, Sean resolves to sort it out and barges into Speed Dahl to confront Yasmeen and Stu. Betsy admits to Mason that she told Dylan that he carries a knife. Annoyed, Mason asserts he can fight his own battles. When Dylan spots Mason in the precinct, is trouble brewing?

Max visits an emotional Lauren and insists on taking her for lunch.

Steve and Cassie watch the County game, clearly enjoying each other’s company. When Tim enquires after Demi, Steve admits he’d forgotten about her.

  1. It may become clear in the episode, but how does Cassie know about Alina? And what in earth is she up to? Does she want to get rid of Fiz, who has given her a home?

  2. Ooh, so much going on.
    1. Rowan clearly set up the sleazy "investor" to proposition Leanne, so that she would put pressure Amy to invest. The financial advisor is unlikely to be independent.
    2. Stu has terrible instincts. Isn't Mason in breach of his restraining order anyway?
    3. Was there an offscreen dialogue? Alina said she would return to Romania permanently after the trial, witness statement and sentencing. Now Tyrone is casting doubt on that. It's understandable that Tyrone wants to be in Dorin's life. But it should be at a distance. Some financial support, occasional phone or Internet contact, with Alina far away in Romania.

  3. I have a feeling that Alina won't be going anywhere for a bit....Tyrone's not going to let his child go so easily. I would think that yes,,,Mason should be nowhere in the vicinity of his former victim....and Stu needs a good swat, he should have listened to Jasmine. Not every person who is lousy wants to be "fixed' ....as for Betsy...she is a snotty little cow in't she?

Quite a few characters are leaving. Rowan, Paul, Joel, Gail and now stu. We've already lost Simon and Beth is leaving. Alina's returned, Tracey is returning and I'm hoping that Peter will, too. It's be good if Micheal and glenda are re- united.
