As we start a new month, we now know who The Baddie is. I'm saying 'baddie' rather than 'murderer' because we still don't know if Lauren is alive or not. I feel that she is chained to a radiator somewhere (has Deedee ever been to Joel's place? I think not) and all the times that Joel disappeared, he was actually taking her bread and water. I also feel that Deedee is going to be the one to expose Joel; in fact I expected her to find out at the same time that we did. But there are still some unanswered questions:
1) Does Joel really have an ex-wife and child or were they made up? I found something very suspicious about the way the ex turned up to tell Deed how wonderful Joel was.
2) When does he have time to groom these vulnerable young women given that he's constantly down Weatherfield nick representing the unrepresentable?
3) Talking of, duty solicitors don't earn that much (£35-37K) so how does he afford the flashy car, smart suits, and jewellery for gullible girls?
4) Were there every any scenes with he and Lauren in the cafe? Did they give each other secret looks? I don't remember any. And did Lauren know Deedee was Joel's official girlfriend? If so, did she care?
5) If Hope founded the Monday Murder Cub, how come she didn't crack on that the necklace was A Clue?
Anyway, Joel invites Deedee to meet the people who raised Corrie's latest psychopath i.e. his mum and dad. He has a busy day, telling Ellie not to have any more contact with Bethany, visiting his client (Nathan), buying more Brylcreem (or stealing it from Adam's desk), dipping his tie in ketchup, and lying to Deedee about representing Nathan (she finds out). Ms Platt is busy too - she approaches her tame copper (PC Tinker) with Ellie's address, saying Nathan used to abuse her. They go to Ellie's place but her housemate tells them she's done a runner.
Leanne comes back to find Ken hogging the teabags and her step-son about to sail off into the sunset. Presumably the Institute has an in-house hairdresser as Leanne's gone short again. Within two minutes, she's had a go at Nick, blamed Toyah for Simon's departure, and done her patented Miss Stompy storm-out. Simon leaves in a black cab - are we going to miss him? He's not really been ubiquitous on the cobbles for a while now and I can't say I'm devastated that he's going.
Craig visits Abi and Kev to tell them the police are no nearer to finding who's posting the deep-fake porn. We know, don't we? Seems like Abi could work it out. Once again, we see that the internet is local to Weatherfield as some lairy lads turn up to perv at poor Abi and Kev says they'll get the videos taken down no matter what (Asha recommends the company Dev used). Surely then Corey whoever's uploading the vidz would just use another site? Abi overhears Cassie claiming the videos aren't faked and a row ensues. Cassie's campaign to be the fourth Mrs Webster falters at the first hurdle as she's sacked from the garage.
The Rodwell-Tilsley-Platts have Platt Chat but the Osbourne-Barlows have Barlow Boozes, to which no-one not related to Ken is allowed. Unfortunately, Deedee has let slip to Adam that Bobby gave a false statement to the feds (which led to Daniel's arrest and suspension from the STC) and Adam tells the rest of the Barlows and everyone gets upset. Seems a bit unfair when Bobby's attempts were to help Roy, not drop Danny-boy in it..
I know Sam's old school but surely he can play chess with a computer? Although that would be a bit of a boring scene, visually. He and Roy play a game, which Sam easily wins as Roy has lost interest and is still depressed following his time in chokey. Roy complains that he was ambushed by Nina and that he doesn't want to be known as "Creepy Cropper". As if.

I could understand the Barlows' anger against Carla and Bobby.Daniel could have been arrested due to Bobby's lie and due to Carla willing to do anything to free Roy,she and Bobby would have kept quiet about his 'new evidence'.
ReplyDeleteI would also like to add that it was Bobby's fault that Roy was arrested in the first place.telling the police that Roy was a 'weirdo'who had something to hide and that's why he was cleaning Lauren's flat.
