My heart sank when Christina told Daisy that there was a curse on her family's weddings. I mean, there's a curse on all Corrie weddings, isn't there? The things going wrong are comical at first: Daisy's dress is too big (are leg-of-mutton sleeves back? Please kill me now), the cake is wrong, she has red-eye, the wedding venue hasn't done the seating, the wedding car has been stolen (you live opposite a cab firm, hun). Daisy is acting not so much Bridezilla as Bride Kong, but Team Double D is sorting all this stuff out and locking up the Rovers when it turns out that the person lurking in the corner of the pub is not your run of the mill functioning alcoholic but Justin with a vial of acid which he throws at Daisy, but it mostly misses and hits Ryan instead. Maybe he really didn't like Ryan's purple corduroy shirt?
Ryan has foolishly done the "cop talking about his last day before retirement" speech and says he's leaving for Ibiza with his long haired lover from Liverpool (as an aside, I only found out recently that Charlotte Jordan/Daisy is from Surrey, which explains her accent - I thought she was from a little known part of the Wirral where they talk funny) but he instead ends up in Kate Oates Memorial after Daisy manages to get hold of the only ambulance in the UK that you don't have to wait 8 hours for. Ryan shouldn't be too worried about being in hospital as a) Alya rushes to see him and b) we all know residents of Weatherfield have super healing powers and recover quickly from injuries and diseases that are never referenced again. My main hope is that Michelle isn't going to turn up to nurse him.
So anyway, Daisy goes out of the hospital in the car park and spots Justin in his car. After demanding he get out of the car, she plays at him at his own game and repeats his fantasies back to him, that he has "earned" her love. He gets out and D.I. Blonde Ponytail and a uniform nab him. He's off to chokey.
Other things that happened at the non-wedding:
Amy gets agitated when Adam gives her a squeeze and Simon notices. Tracy tells her "you can't go around biting people's heads off". No, you hit them over the head with a statuette.
And Paul confesses to Billy that he's spent all of the loan. I mean, he could just move in with the Arch-deacon and be his sugar-baby? Not quite sure why they were at the wedding anyway - Daisy works with Gemma who is Paul's twin but it seems a bit tenuous. I guess Billy is the spare vic at the wedding.

I hate to say this, but my first thought after crying over sweet Ryan was...O, no! I hope Michelle isn't coming back! X
ReplyDeletePaul and Daniel used to share a flat - that’s why Paul’s at the wedding
ReplyDeletePaul lived with Daniel, hence why he was invited
ReplyDeleteA very harrowing episode, and a brilliant one at that. Well done to all involved. Poor Ryan, that totally blindsided me.
ReplyDeleteI'm no fan of Michelle's but as Ryan's mother it would be unrealistic for her not to return and help her son,she would be seen as being selfish not to be concerned.
ReplyDeleteI hope that Alya doesn't blame Daisy for what happened, she seemed to have that accusing look at the hospital.
Ryan getting hit with the acid - I didn't see that coming at all. I do hope that Ryan will be able to recover ;) which should take about a week and then is never spoken of again.
ReplyDeleteKidding of course, but that's usually how grave injuries go on the street.
Another reason for Alya to hate Daisy....I can see this becoming a full on feud in future...
Does Alya hate Daisy? If so why?
ReplyDeleteI would like to see Michelle return for at least a couple of episodes.
@Jan - Ryan cheated on Alya with Daisy. Daisy manipulated the situation though. I wouldn't blame Alya for hating (or even just disliking) Daisy.
ReplyDeleteI agree that for something like this, Michelle SHOULD be there for her son, even if it's just a short visit to help him recover.
At the very least we should see Michelle facetime Ryan..or Maria (she's his aunt) or a call from Carla (Shelle's best friend and cousin) but alas...the Connor's are not a close family as we can see
ReplyDeleteI don't really understand how people didn't see it coming that it would be Ryan who would get the worst of the acid....I thought it was fairly obvious. They were never going to scar Daisy.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, every cloud, at least Ryan didn't lose an eye or even compromise his sight 🙄
