Evening Corrie fans, it’s Kelly here with your Friday night review.
Over at the Rovers, Jenny is still moping over Leo but putting on a brave face. Gemma’s sure that she still loves him and after bellowing at Rita until the poor woman’s ears bleed, the two agree to convince Leo to try to make up with her.
Elsewhere, dodgy Griff tells Toyah he’s planning a protest at the factory. Wanting to help, Toyah marches around to the factory and warns Carla that she needs to consider her ethical choices. I don’t know if you’ve noticed Toyah, but despite having a perfectly good computer in front of her, Carla chooses to write in pencil. Maybe she is trying to save the planet after all. Does anyone know how the sales team are working out their figures? Has she issued them with an abacus and some beans?
When Spider finds out about Toyah’s involvement, he warns her off and let’s slip that he wants to protect her because he loves her…awwhh. Leanne’s not happy (is she ever?) about the declaration of love or the activism and tells Toyah she needs to sort out her own life before the rest of the world.
In other news, it’s Sam’s first day at school. He should be fine, he’s friends with Hope. I doubt anyone messes with her, not unless they want their classroom burning down. Later on, he posts a letter. For some reason this is made out to be all mysterious, not sure why? If any child was going to have a pen pal it would be Sam.
Also, Mary manages to rope Ken, Wendy and a very reluctant Evelyn into auditioning for an am dram production.
Back in the Rovers, Slimy Stephen is still trying to get one over on Sarah. When she lets slip that Jenny is the sole owner of the Rovers he decides to crack onto her instead. Amazingly it works but only because Jen has been knocking back the wine since breakfast. She invites him to the back room for some whisky and a snog, just as Leo turns up in the pub with an engagement ring!
Luckily for them Gemma saves the day by distracting Leo for long enough for Jenny to kick Slimy out. Leo proposes and Jenny says yes! The happy couple plus Rita and Gemma all celebrate in the Bistro with the bubbly. Blimey Jenny’s a better woman than me, I’d have been passed out within crawling distance of a bucket by now.
While the newly engaged couple plan their new life in Canada, Stephen looks on malevolently. He's turning a bit pantomime villain. so my money’s definitely on him trying to blackmail Jenny.
And that’s it for this week. Join me in a chorus of boo, hiss, he's behind you in the comments or on twitter @mskelstar

Pretty dreadful episode last night saved by the scene with Mary and Evelyn. Loved Mary's line about: '... looking 20 years younger under specially tinted lights.' I laughed out loud and don't know how they kept a straight face. Of course, Stephen's going to blackmail Jenny. Sean's the loose cannon there and he'll be charmed onto team-Stephen. About Sean, in a bored moment I found myself watching 'Are You Being Served? which is a comedy. Sean's not funny, he's a cliche and makes Mr Humphries look restrained.
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable. Jenny goes from toyboy to almost Daddy figure and back in 24 hours. An engagement is no guarantee of her relationship with Leo lasting anyway. Plus I don't believe Sally Ann Matthews intends to leave.
ReplyDeleteAgree re Sean. Ridiculously camp now, and back eavesdropping and meddling.
Mary and Evelyn: classic!
I struggle to find many that like sean. How he stays on the show is a miracle
DeleteI have to disagree about Mary. Every scene she is in just looks so contrived and over acted.
ReplyDeleteHopefully steven is un-masked soon and theres no way he can make any more returns as hes a dire actor who was never well liked first time round
ReplyDeleteJeanie (anon) I find Jenny sexually attacking Stephen in the back room pretty offensive to the character...If Craig had come through would she have jumped on him, or Griff, or David? Being drunk means your inhibitions are lowered, it doesn't render you completely blind and make you take leave of all your senses! It's not they had even been flirting a bit in the past, or there had been some mutual attraction. He's literally a stranger to her.
ReplyDeleteI hate these out of character behaviours which are contrived purely to set up a new plot line (in this case Jenny's blackmail by Stephen).
