Coronation Street Episode Review Friday 22 April 2022

Evening Corrie fans, it’s Kelly here with your Friday night review.

At No. 11, after managing to crack a smile for about three seconds in the space of six months, Eileen is back to having a face like a slapped arse. It’s all because George has refused a saucy sleepover with her, apparently in favour of going home to look after his cat.
Both Mary and Sean cast aspersions about whether the moggy exists or whether George has a secret wife. Then Sean makes everything worse (this may be his one and only skill) when he overhears Todd and George discussing their bigamist burial, jumps to completely the wrong conclusion and blabs to Eileen that her fella is definitely playing away. The Grimshaw grinch confronts Todd in the Rovers who confirms George’s innocence, but Eileen’s convinced that that he must still be hiding something.
Over at No. 4 Elaine is driving Sally to despair by reorganising all her cupboards in alphabetical order (?) and curtailing her and Timbo’s sexy time. They finally get her to sling her hook, which means Sally can do her naughty traffic warden role-play, but unfortunately Tim has a failure to launch. Disappointing for our Sal. Still, at least she doesn’t have to store her bran flakes next to her bleach anymore, so every cloud...

In other news, Billy makes a reluctant Summer go along to a diabetes support group, where she meets a fellow nerd called Aaron. Also, Imran meets up with his prepubescent PI and tells him that he needs hard evidence that Abi is back on the drugs before the custody hearing.

Finally, sex offender in training, Max has distributed videos and weblinks of Nicky’s former escort career all over the school. She’s called into Mrs Crawshaw’s office and suspended for not disclosing her past on her application. Daniel spies her leaving with her possessions in a box, (like Dominic Cummings but with far better hair) and she tearfully tells him that she has rent to pay and doesn’t know if she’ll be able to get another job. Go talk to some of the other Street residents, sweetheart. Leanne’s been on the game, Tracy’s a murderer and Daniel was accused of grooming one student and then threw another one down some stairs, and they all seem to have found gainful employment.

Daniel decides that it must have been Daisy who distributed the videos. He calls her an insecure spiteful cow and despite her denials, breaks up with her. He then invites Nicky...and her child to stay in his Tardis flat. But his self-righteousness doesn’t last long, as five minutes later he hears Shona giving Max an earful for being the real culprit. Oops!

Well, I personally hope Daisy refuses to forgive him, as I think she’s well rid of Mr sanctimonious Ken-lite. But please feel free to persuade me he has some redeeming qualities in the comments or on twitter @mskelstar.

See you in a fortnight chuck. Ta-ra.

  1. Daisy can do better than "ken lite" haha..great one.

I never cared for the character of Nikki,, not at all..and I think she does have designs on Daniel (who is a world class liar)..so yeah, move the mannequin in and carry on..Beth and Kirk will love that

  2. Things get even dafter in the school with only 1 teacher and 6 pupils. Nicky's exposed cleavage and TOWIE make-up is hardly suitable for the classroom, and I doubt a TA in her first week would confront pupils in the playground. Plus I don't believe her "prostitution or starve" excuse. What about Income Support?
Totally with Daisy now, she deserves better than Daniel.

  3. I disagree with the above comments and think it's Daniel who deserves better han Daisy!
Let's not forget that Daisy was the one who gaslighted Alya and Ryan when she got Ryan drunk and let Alya believe that Ryan slept with her and only became interested in Daniel after using the footballer Ashley to make him jealous when she overheard Daniel's mum Denise was planning to buy him a house and that he was 'loaded'.
Now I don't think Daniel should be with Nicky either and I do wonder why she was even brought back but Daisy is not the type of woman that Daniel could 'grow old' with.
Perhaps down the road Daniel could be paired up with Toyah who could adopt Bertie as her own without any problems as I'm sure Ken and the Sutherlands would approve.

  4. True about Daisy's past but I do believe she has reformed somewhat and has genuine feelings for Daniel. His being loaded has been conveniently forgotten by the scriptwriters. Isn't Toyah way too old for Daniel, pushing 40?

    1. She needs to contain the green eyed monster though. Not a good look. She jumps to the wrong conclusion a lot and that would drive anybody mad eventually
