In the house of crime, Craig makes a lot of speeches about how nothing will be the same ever again and how he's lost his integrity, diligence blah blah blah. It's hardly the first time is it? He himself points out that he withheld evidence against the racist cop who arrested James Bailey. He also didn't reveal to his superiors that he was dating an incarcerated criminal, and when he discovered Rotten Ray's plans for the cobbles, he was put off revealing them by Ray saying he'd put in a good word for him with the Chief Constable. Let's face it, he's the worst plod since D.S. McKinnon.
Anyway, he agrees to go back to Ted's flat to recover Fay(e)'s false nail. Armed with a Handy Andy youtube guide to plumbing, he undoes the u-bend and finds the nail, only to be interrupted by Ted's grandson. He manages to get out of the flat without arousing suspicion and then tells Faye they have to get rid of clothes she and Emma were wearing that day and then - dramatic twist - he quits the force. Maybe he can go back to graffiti ing walls? I feel like The Powers That Be only decided that he was going to become a copper so that the didn't have to employ a different actor to read the Miranda rights every time someone's wrongly arrested on the Street,
It's Faye I feel sorry for in all of this. Now she's stuck with Craig - forever - and he'll be asking for "that special thing" on a weekly basis. The moral of the story is: never wear false nails.
Talking of milking it, Tim lies on an uncomfortable looking sofa veering between saying he feels daft just lying around and demanding special biscuits. Elaine, trying to make up for 40-odd years of non-parenting in two days, gives him a "servant" bell, to Sally's chagrin. If something is going to push her in to the arms of a hunky American ice-skater, it will be this. I was wondering why Steve hadn't bothered to come visit his bestest pal, but it was pointed out to me that he was probably in the jungle eating kangaroo genitals at this point, so that was probably preferable than seeing Sally and Elaine squabble over Tim.
Max finally attends the consent class at Weathy High (which seems to consist of 2 boys, Daniel and a whiteboard). Would a NQT be doing this? Are there any other teachers at the school apart from Danny-boy and Mrs C? Is Daniel having to teach metalwork and media studies as well? Anyway, Max says he has a personal stake in the classes, which leads Daniel to ask "Because of David?", which in turn leads to Max quizzing David about what happened to him. David eventually tells him and then chews Daniel out for letting it slip and for once, David is in the right.
On a side note, we all know Double D are going to get back together and Lydia is not going to be best pleased by that. But do we really have to a Mary Wollstonecraft-quoting bunny boiler??
Meanwhile in Corrieoaks, Asha says to Amy and Summer that she wants to follow her dream of doing BA (Hons) Risk Management at Glasgow University (tread lightly because you tread on my dreams, also have you done a risk assessment on the dream?), but she doesn't want to leave Nina. Come on, we know all three are going to Manchester Uni, Or maybe the newly consecrated University of Weatherfield (Media City campus).
And finally, in devil child news, Hope's had a therapy session in which the therapist said that her hiding Joseph in the attic was not because she's a baby Fritzl and she was actually showing empathy towards her cousin, which seems like the most positive twist on something since those parties were rebranded as "work events".
Where has Phil(l) been the last few weeks whilst his step-nephew has gone missing? Just like Audrey hunkers down in Grasmere Drive whenever there's a Platt problem, Phill has been conveniently absent during the whole Joseph palaver. Anyway, he, Evelyn and Tyrone all agree that Hope needs a proper diagnosis. Fiz disagrees.

I wonder how did Daniel know about David being raped in the first place as I thought only Gail and Sarah [who was always flirting with Josh]knew?
ReplyDeleteDid Sarah open her bit mouth again either telling Adam or Daniel herself?
I don't feel sorry for Faye,if she was honest from the beginning about Ted's accident, then this mess would have been avoided and perhaps Craig wouldn't have to resign from the force.
You said what I was thinking Rachel. There must be 1000+ pupils at Weathy High yet the teaching staff seems to consist of a deputy head and a trainee teacher who must do all lessons and supervision of demonstrations. Why was Daniel so insistent that Max attends his consent lessons when the other hundreds of pupils didn’t bother?
ReplyDeleteIt's all to do with the 4 per scene scenario set by Covid. That's why they can't have a full class/year group
DeleteI don't understand why David had to tell Daniel about his assault, and I don't really understand why Daniel trashed Daniel's flat.
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't he stay with his gran anymore? (Callum's mum).
It's Craig I feel sorry for.
Why didn't he ditch Fay and keep his career? But as this post has pointed out, he is no saint as a copper - yet his previous mistakes have been skimmed over.
I'm fascinated by the amount of lamps (all of them are almost placed next to each other) in Sally and Tim's house - I counted 7 in all!
You've mistaken Max for Daniel
DeleteGood point, why would Daniel know about David's rape? Hmmm
ReplyDeleteThere were more than 4 in the scene of the school demo. And why bother to show a scene of a school lesson when you can supposedly have only 4 people in it?
ReplyDeleteThe demo was outside.
DeleteLess restrictive with COVID rules. If you notice, there hasn't been any scenes inside the cab office since Covid, as tptb had previously said there is no way of social distancing in that tiny area
Sorry I don't understand why MAX trashed Daniel's flat. Does anyone else know? I'm amazed that the school offered Daniel a job!
ReplyDeleteWhy are you amazed that the school told to him to apply for a vacancy, as they didn't actually offer him the job?
DeleteAs at that point he was in the clear with the Police.
Max trashed the flat as in his eyes, Daniel let the cat out of the bag about a family secret which he thought should've been up to David to tell, not Daniel. Simple
Jeanie (anon): every time I hear Faye justify her actions--in that self-pitying and wheedling voice she has--or guilt trip poor Emma into helping her in the cover-up, I think, wow, this is the same psycho girl who poisoned Owen's fish! She fits right in with Gary Windass and has all the instincts of a criminal--ie. lie and cover up at all costs.
ReplyDeleteIt's Emma I feel the most sorry for--and wish she had never come into contact with the toxic, criminally inclined Faye. A sweet, honest, open girl. First, she doesn't even know Faye but the PTB shoehorned them into a sudden best friend relationship. Then, after the accident, Faye's instinct for lying led to her pressuring and guilt tripping poor Emma into covering up for her. Emma was an absolute idiot--idiot--to let Faye wheedle, blackmail, guilt trip her into not calling the police. Even if Emma was somewhat over the limit, it was still Faye behind the wheel.
On a side note--is Emma even likely to have been a driver long enough to supervise Faye? I don't know about the U.K. but in Canada, I believe, you have to have had your license for a while before you're allowed to escort a person on a learner's permit. You're also not allowed to drive after dark. It was ridiculous the way everyone was suddenly pressuring Emma to help Faye practise her driving...Usually, people are pretty careful about whom they get as their supervising driver--ie. someone with solid driving experience of their own, not another teenage girl!
The whole story is ridiculous--an elaborate contrivance to have Emma involved in yet another heart-breaking relationship, this time where she is the deceiver.
Daniel hasn't done any wrong so far in the school's eyes but it could take the view that it would be better if Daniel got a job further afield, and give him a glowing reference. But that won't happen because it's a given in Corrie that professionals have to live as near as possible to clients, pupils, local criminals. Shame Dr Gaddas doesn't live next door to Audrey who could spill the beans on the Platt family.
