Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 8th November

Imran is playing spaceships with their silent but smiley foster child, just before going off to play lawyer at Kelly's hearing. Corey has pleaded guilty and told the court that Kelly had nothing to do with the murder (it's a pity that there was no way to redeem Corey really) and thus the judge quashes the conviction. Kelly's home free.... except that the social worker calls and says that Elsie is supposed to be fostered in a one child only household and if Kelly comes back to live with Timran, then Elsie might have to be fostered elsewhere. Toyah's Choice! (with fewer Nazis, obviously). To be honest, you'd think Weatherfield Social Services'd be glad to get two of their responsibilities off their books.

Kelly fetches up, tries to apologise to Nina, who refuses to accept it, offers advice to Toyah on her split with Imran, gets a supported living placement and is bullied by the other residents all within the same afternoon. She's a fast worker.

I've never been quite convinced by Danny and James as a couple. They look good together and it was nice that they got to have the first unsocially distanced kiss of 2021, but they always seem more like good chums than lovers. You can't imagine them frotting up against a door-frame as Billy and Todd 1.0 were doing at every opportunity (even when it wasn't in the script). Danny still has this job offer from the Corrie version of Salt Bae and Ronnie spills the beans (as well as the pulled pork and sticky toffee pudding) to James about it. Young master Bailey immediately goes to Danny's putative employer and says that he is still interested and that he'll dump Danny if he says no. Why doesn't James try for a transfer to, I dunno, Leyton Orient, or whatever the That There London equivalent of Weatherfield County is?

There's a lot going on this evening. It's also Natasha's funeral, which all the Platts attend even though they didn't really have a lot to do with her second time around. Sam is as silent as, um, the grave, but he takes Nick's hand as they go off to the church. After the funeral, Gail regrets that Natasha's family couldn't stay for the wake whilst Sam hands over his eulogy to Nick to read. Is Sam on supporting actor (i.e extra)  rates during this radio silence?

Oh and there's some stuff with Summer and Daniel. I think we all know this is the way this is going to go, no? And it's going to end with Sinead's cardigan again.

And finally, Adam has had a haircut! O, blessed day!
