Maureen Lipman, who plays Evelyn in Coronation Street, told The Oldie magazine that she once left her Corrie scripts in the back of a taxi. Maureen had her lines in a backpack which she forgot to take with her when she arrived at the studios in a cab.
Maureen told The Oldie magazine how she and Rula Lenska (Claudia) retraced their whole trip to work at Manchester's Media City trying to work out where she might have left the bag.
She said: “I began to think laterally. We’d paid for our smoked-haddock fishcakes and the large vodka at the baffling Sainsbury’s self-service till.
The bag was found in a park in Stockport by a woman called Karen. She tracked down Maureen by using information on prescription pills which were still inside the bag.
Maureen said: “It smelled of dog pee, but she hadn’t washed it because of possible DNA traces. Full marks, Karen!”

I’m confused. If she left her bag in a taxi, how did it end up in a park ?
ReplyDeleteTashcat: the backpack must have been found by another passenger, or the driver, who had a good look through for valuables before dumping it? Sadly not everyone is as honest as Karen.
ReplyDeleteThanks, coconno. I assumed the taxi driver would have found it. You’re right, not everyone is honest.
