Coronation Street has sent home all of its actors over 70 years of age due to coronavirus fears.
ITV confirmed yesterday that it would be reducing the number of episodes per week and filming with fewer cast and crew members following the pandemic.
A Corrie spokesperson said: "With regards to over-70s we will be adhering to all government guidelines and following the appropriate steps."
Official government advice that those over the age of 70 should stay at home in the coming weeks. This means that many of the cast will be written out temporarily. So let's see, we could be losing the following:
Ken Barlow, Rita Tanner, Audrey Roberts, Norris Cole, Evelyn Plummer, Claudia Colby. Any more you can think of over 70 years old?

Helen Worth is 69, so I suppose they're making her work still!
ReplyDeleteEvelyn? How old is Maureen?
ReplyDeleteShe's 72
DeleteJeanie (anon): The Norris Cole actor is particularly vulnerable because of his heart condition. Too bad because the Still Waters story line is one of the best I've seen in a while--at least I'm really enjoying it! Norris in a state of twittering paranoia is hilarious. For too long he had been reduced to the bitter sour man in the shop! Now he has his own story after years....
ReplyDeleteI will miss Evelyn the most.
ReplyDeleteIf Geoff isn't actually over 70, could he at least be an honorary member of the over 70 crew?
ReplyDeleteSadly the actor who plays Geoff is 65 (in my humble opinion he looks much older).
