In this week's Inside Soap magazine there's a very long interview with Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod who has a few things to say about storylines coming up in 2020. There's so much to share that I'll be blogging these over a few different posts - so stay tuned.
In this blog post I'd like to share some news about Carla's lost weekend during her mental health storyline.
Iain MacLeod tells Inside Soap this about what's coming up for Peter and Carla:
"Firstly we wanted to see Carla regain her status as Queen of the Cobbles". (me: thank heavens for that!).
"After her mental health storyline I felt as if we had to have a period where she looked after herself rather than run a business like the ball-breaking go-getter we know that she can be. That then gave me an appetite to witness her back in the saddle, so we'll see her regain some of her former status.
"We will also find out something about Carla's lost weekend where she went missing during her mental health story. That kicks off in April and provides a bump in the road for her and Peter."
Sounds intriguing!
If you're a Carla fan, have a look at this.

I find her recovery from a psychotic break ridiculous. I guess in no time she'll be off her meds and cured and drinking bottles of wine again. A family member was on the same type of medication Carla is taking and the side effects were horrific.
ReplyDeleteCould that bump in the road be a "bump"?
ReplyDeleteAs much as I like Ali King's acting, I'm starting to get sick of the character. She's in SO MANY storylines yet other great actresses like Jane Danson hasn't had a proper storyline in awhile...Can we have a Carla break?!
ReplyDeleteJeanie (anon): Slept with someone...yawn. Who cares? Never been a big Carla or Peter fan. And this on-going beatification of her character has been ridiculous. She's gone from being a bitch extraordinaire--whom you could at least respect--to being a fussing mother hen! Ludicrous personality transplant. Now, of course, she'll take the budding seamstress/designer Nina under her wing and we'll have yet another creative young designer wandering around the factory (probably soon to be forgotten as Alya was). Much prefer the antics of Sally and Abi!
