Oh dearie me. Sean Tully, what have you done? Have you deprived Eileen of a happy life with Jan or have you saved her from herself?
I can't quite decide, and that's the best part of it all. I'm no Sean fan as I barely see the point of him, but I think there might have been a bit of him that wanted to keep Eileen from harm.
But on the other hand, Sean is a selfish, manipulative and lonely man. So did he stop Eileen from being happy just because he isn't happy either?
What do you think - did Sean do the right thing by telling Jan to leave Eileen alone - Yay or Nay?

I'm sorry but I love Sean, one of my favourite characters. Pity he stopped Eileen from leaving though, she is one of my least favourite characters. Would be glad to see the back of her.
ReplyDeleteIf Jan's love for Eileen were strong, he wouldn't let Sean talk him out of taking Eileen with him, IMHO. I haven't seen the episode yet though so maybe I'll change my mind when I do.
ReplyDeleteI think he did the right thing. In witness protection she wouldn't be able to speak to Jason or Todd again (not that she does now). I agree Catsmom, if Jan loved her as much as he said he did he'd have ignored Sean.
ReplyDeleteEileen is a grown woman and level-headed. She isn't being scammed out of her life savings nor is she a ditsy teenager with no experience of the world. Given that we saw Sean telling Beth he missed being in a relationship, you can understand Eileen's jibe that he did it out of jealousy. Sean had mixed motives: on the one hand, he cared for Eileen's safety but on the other hand, he would have been even more alone if Eileen had gone. Seb, who might see Eileen as a mother, too, had the right attitude. Sean shouldn't have gone to the hospital. Jason and Todd didn't come up in conversation yesterday so presumably they're not as important to her as Jan.
