The previews are in from ITV for next week’s Coronation Street and when the Baileys throw a housewarming party, Aggie reveals to her sons the party will be a surprise birthday bash for Ed and that their sister Dee-Dee has agreed to fly in for Ed’s party - but will she arrive?
Also Bethany and James Bailey become friends. At the party, a drunken Daniel tucks into the rum punch but when Bethany checks he’s OK, he gives her a scathing reply. James follows upset Bethany into the backyard and touched by his kindness, Bethany leans in for a kiss but is mortified when James resists. Bethany makes to leave so James blurts out that he’s gay.
James calls at Bethany’s flat and begs her to understand he can’t come out publicly because it would be impossible to be an openly gay, black footballer due to some fans’ prejudice.

Is the openly gay thing still an issue anywhere?
ReplyDeleteYes, in football.
DeleteI like James who along with Steve recently tried to help Emma honor her father's last wish to have his ashes scattered at Weatherfield county so I hope Bethany does not betray his wish to keep his homosexuality a secret out of spite because James rebuffed her advances.
ReplyDeleteI also hope that Bethany doesn't tell her mother, her gran or her great gran as they all have big mouths and love to gossip!
