When Corrie changed its storylines at the last minute

There's a wonderful article today on Corriepedia which is well worth a read.

It harks back to the summer of 1970 when Coronation Street's storylines were changed from first outline to final draft.

You can read it all here.

  1. I am sure there is many more other occasion, like when Len Fairclough were being killed off, or when Chris Fountain, Bruno Langley and Marc Anwar were written off immediately. Or even when William Roache and Michael Le Vell were falsely accused. I have a feeling that Sally and Kevin might have gotten back together if it was not for Michael’s temporary exit!

  2. Definitely agree with Smiley about Sally & Kevin. That was such a fortunate hiccup as far as Corrie casting is concerned. Sally with Tim has been completely transformed. As for other re-writes, in 1993, the Grand National was declared void after two false starts. I can't quite remember the actual storyline but it was something to do with Stan and Eddie winning a bet on the race. There must have been a hasty re-write which I read about later in a newspaper.

  3. Interesting topic. Alf had to take emergency leave in the early 90s due to health issues but I think it was explained by saying he had a heart attack in the show.
